Tigress in CPM-M4

That came out great Ban!

wonder how many months rent I would need to save to get me one of these!:D

Ban,
That is one wicked blade! Keep up the great work! Seeing your work is inspiration for me to start getting down on some knife making!

A knife fit for Conan the Barbarian.

Say ... the Governator is out of a job now, isn't he?:);)

Yep unfortunately he was able to pass AB692 and banned the .50 bmg before he was booted :thumbdn:

Russ,

Hope you are feeling better my friend. Yep that is the stuff that you sent over to me. Has a bit of a tigerhide look and very fitting for the Tigress

Ban you create some of the absolutely sharpest blades anywhere by anyone.
They are worthy of the finest handle materials. Have you considered using elephant ivory, bone or some of the more exotic woods (like African Blackwood), perhaps with metal inlay work ?
I'm not sure about this suggestion however. As it is your knives just beg to be used. Fancier handles would up the cost and might turn them into safe queens which IMO would be a terrible waste of your talent and time spent making them S to the power of 3. (stupid scary sharp)
Wishing you health, happiness and continued knifemaking for 2011.
My son is very pleased and impressed with his BT4 Christmas present !

Thanks for the kind words Roland. I may consider using more exotic handle materials down the road. I just like to use a lot of micarta because it works well and is ultra durable for hard working knives. I have done some iron wood and other wood handles in the past but they are few and far in between.

Ban is right. Micarta is durable and it works without having to worry much about temp changes and shrinkage. Besides some synthetics can be dressed up nicely. Ban, your work is excellent. I owe you big time for being my online professor for knifemaking college. Happy new year homie!

Sigh.

And I doubt Jerry Brown will un-do that.:(

California used to be such a lovely place ...

Unfortunately Not!

It still is a very beautiful place with beautiful weather. It just has too many gungrabbers that want to violate our 2nd amendment rights.

My son has returned to Calgary where he works as a power lineman. I've got 4 children and all have received knives beginning at pre school days. Jamie plans to use the BT4 as a kitchen knife. He likes to cook. He's got other knives from me like Todd Davison, Snody, etc. for hunting, fishing and farting around.
I love giving away knives and explaining each one with enthusiasm. I've 'armed' most of the small community i live in (pop. ~ 60).
But now i need another Ban knife for myself !

I have family ... people I dearly love ... adrift in the Central Valley. Unemployment rate = 19% (approx).

Beautiful it may be, but it's tough place to raise a family these days. As I'm certain you well know.

Hoping things continue to look up for you and yours.

Hunting is one of the reasons i live where i do. My house is like a fancy hunting blind, and the property is wintering ground to about 150 or so elk.
Don't have any knife pattern in mind. I like to wait for knives that get posted. Either they 'grab me' or they don't. I don't seem to be able to picture in my mind's eye what a knife might look like.
If you check the Rough Rider thread over in Traditionals you'll see a field dressing post i did a couple of months back.

Awesome Roland! I would love to do some Elk hunting in your neck of the woods one of these days!
