Tiiimmmmbbbuuuur.

No words of thanks can describe how I feel about Fodderwings (Dwights) pm.
....but for those who came in late and those who are familiar with my posts over the years.... I'll have a crack.
Dwight ,Brother, you have lifted my spirit with your kindness, concern and generosity.
You have exemplified and made real The Porch and all it stands for.
You have reinforced my faith in the comradeship of the Fire Brigade. Something that only those who've been there done that can truly understand. For that I say Thank You.

Orange Burl ol'warpy next to medium sized and razor sharp brother in burnt orange bone gifted to me by Dwight. This one oozes character...like its new owner. And yet there is a humble , modest practicality beneath its gorgeous exterior...like its new owner.
I am honoured to receive it.
But wait....
I know you want more..
Dwight is a former Firey himself and from one smoke eating door kicking car ripping hose dragging jack of all trades master of everything when hell has burst its banks..
to another.
The gift that speaks of brotherhood....

Awesome mate, glad to hear it.:cool: Dwight Fodderwing Fodderwing , you're a class act, good on ya!:)

I'm having trouble viewing the pics though, Meako - just getting an error message...

Some sort of glitch with pics. Smart phones are great until the desktop pc is out of reach.
Dwights other gift is a v cool Little Rock fire department t shirt. Perfect fit too by the way.
I wear it with pride. He also took the time to write words of support and friendship on the card warning me of the
pull strength on this beautiful knife..
but as we say in Klingon
"qqParkllbun SqaalkkkQn!!"
" 10 on the human scale is a mere 2 to a Klingon child...4 at most"
Thanks Dwight

That's fantastic! Well done, Fodderwing Fodderwing , and thanks for sharing with us, Meako!

Best of luck with your original knife, as well. Hope you're able to get it repaired and get years of use out of it.

And hey, I was born in Little Rock! :D

Looking good :D Best wishes ! May the fix be in ;)

Update on the Orange burl.
Clamping and epoxy may have stopped the warp but doesn't want to go back in its proper place. I think Glennbad was spot on with the grain growth ring theory.
Not to worry its still a good stockman.

Kind of figures, when you think about it, that a thin sheet of burl would be less stable than a fist-sized ball of it. I never thought about it, so thanks for the intelligence.

Good point.
Ive also thought some scales are a little too 'waffer thin' .
Could it be a scrimp and save deal getting more scales from one piece of wood....or am I overthinking that? Either way i like a sightly thicker scale if it prevets warp factor.
