Tim Leatherman - Awesome visit, awesome day, awesome man!

Not sure if it was his favorite but he pulled out a LM Charge TI from his belt when I handed him my beat up Juice Pro, and during the conversation we both expressed our love for the (sadly discontinued) mini tool. So small, yet so capable.

Nice story! Thank you for sharing!

I have a Supertool (old one) bought in 1996, where it was still said patent pending.
This is my backup with nylon pouch, sadly my original one with leather pouch got stolen along with laptop (it was in the bag) sometime around the year.

Nice  Meeting such people in person is always very cool experiance, good for you man and thanks for sharing !

This is really one of the best threads I've seen in a very long time. Excellent story on so many levels.

Cool to see your enthusiasm. Cool to see Tim Leatherman still making repairs. Man o man, if he fixed and signed one for me, I would set it aside as a keepsake. Just so cool.

Way to go. I'm a huge Leatherman fan.
Skeletool is on me every single day, with a 300 in the glovebox.
Best groomsman gift I ever got was a Leatherman Rebar with my initials engraved on it.

Edit to add:

Wow. Somehow I found a way to make the OP's post all about me! Aren't I just a total jerk tonight...

I am totally happy and a little jealous. It sounds like you had a hell of a good time. I'd love to meet someone like him. A real shaker and doer in the MT world!!!

Awesome read and a memory for that will last a lifetime.

Thank you for posting it.

Thanks for sharing your excellent story and photos, that had to be quite a thrill for you!

Pinnah, I am also a fan of yours! I love your outdoors/bushcrafting mentality and lightweight packing gear. I wanna try adopt the Opinel + Squirt combo this Mushroom season!

I forgot to mention that detail: He said he knew I wouldn't use the signed Leatherman because of its just acquired "special status", and he insisted he wanted me to keep beating my tools as I had done every day because that's what he designed them for, for being used.

So he said: "Use this tool for what it is intended, and in case you fear losing or breaking this one, I'll sign you anywhere else to have another thing to remember this day". He was handed a new blade from the nearest table, and signed it as well. So, now I have the surge and a replamcement blade as a backup. That was awesome of him, as well.

Hah. Just when I thought the story couldn't get any better! Mr. Leatherman's rep just went way up on my card! :)

Now that's cool right there. Good for you!

Thanks for sharing.

This is a really great story, thanks for sharing!

I haven't carried my Leatherman Rebar in a long time because the belt sheath is ruined. After reading this, I'm inspired to make a leather sheath for my Rebar and start carrying it again!:)
