Timascus for lockside?

Hey all,

I have a request to make one of my frame locks from all Timascus. Aside from the fact that I'm leery about eating the costs of a mistake, I thought I once read that Timascus was not to be used as a leaf spring. Am I misguided? I see some makers doing it.

Thanks,
Mark

I've seen it done quite often so I assume it is okay to use it. I'm not a folder guy though...

Contact Alpha Knife Supply. They will certainly be able to tell you. I have used a lot of their Timascus but only for bolsters. This is a good question that I too would like to here the answer for.

I have seen it used as a spring but hear it is not recommended.

The person who made the recommendation is wrong.

Timascus has been used for hundreds of frame locks and there has never been a problem. We specifically configure the percentages of harder titanium alloys so it can be used for frame locks.
