Recommendation? Time For a New EDC

Since people are throwing trads into the mix - I'd have recommended an Opinel; but I don't see it as a ziptie and cable kind of knifeView attachment 2025434
(I've been carrying knives for almost 50 years; and this is my first Opinel. I've even carried it a couple of times...which is only noteworthy because I honestly figured I'd have put it back in the box and set it on the shelf)

Given your budget there are a bazillion options. Have you tried a Holt yet? They're terrific and the Morpheus is about the right size at a bit over 3 inches.

Most used knife I have is probably my Olamic Busker... not big not tiny... great ergos... good steel. Basically custom for around 400 and change. and you can choose for 4 different blade types.

As an office knife/in polite company knife I really like my carbon fiber Bugout.

Suggest you take a look at some William Henry’s, see if something tickles your fancy. They really are made to use, not just “pocket jewelry.”

Something around 3"? How about a plain old Spyderco LE Native, or a Benchmade Bugout? They're both light weight, pocket friendly, and can handle just about any cutting chores.

Or, an Alox SAK, like a Pioneer or Electrician. I always have an Alox with me, and they get used alot. You'll probably find multiple uses for it every day.

Is that with pancakes?
Yep. Sourdough pancakes from scratch. It's something of a tradition for me to make a big batch of pancakes or waffles most every Sunday. It's also a tradition that I post a pancake and knife pic on another forum I frequent.

I would recommend the Pena Lanny’s Clip Looks old school and not too intimidating.
Intimidating I am not worried about. I am the guy with 50 cal rounds on my desk. I think the guy who sits next to me put it best, I got all the time and patience in the world as long as I think you are worth my time.

Interesting. I have always liked the designs but for one reason or another never really picked one up.

Find a knife shop or jewelry store that has a good selection ad handle a few. They may surprise you.
