Time for a new folder

I´ll second Rifter´s opinion about gettin´ a CRKT M16 in AUS 8. I have one with an AUS 6 blade and it doesn´t hold it´s edge very long. But it came razor sharp and it is one extremely well-made knife for the price. The Zytel scales aren´t as bad as many people state, it´s cheap, grippy and not heavy either.

On the other hand, the Endura is famous for being a real EDC knife. I think I´ll buy one some day.

I'll have to put in another vote for the Endura w/ VG-10. I have carried mine for about a month now and have to say it is the best knife I have carried. It is a great value, great workhorse that I am not afraid to use as intended.

Lesse here:
Endura is FRN, M16 is Aluminum, which is better is strictly a matter of personal preference.
Endura has no Flipper, M16 does, I don't like the flipper.
Endura has no liners, M16 does, I don't have a preference here.
Endura is Lockback, M16 is liner-lock, I vote for the lockback.
Endura has VG-10 Steel, M16 has AUS8A steel, Endura is big winner here.
Endura is ambidextrous, not sure if you care, some do.
Endura fits me like a glove, I have a hard time gettin' the liner unlocked on an M16.

I vote Endura, that's why I own one.

Other suggestions:

Benchmade Griptilian line
Benchmade AFCK (non-axis)
Benchmade TSEK AXIS (or non-axis for that matter)
Benchmade 31 Bali-Song (if you like unique EDCs)
Spyderco Herbst (going for $75 at Knifecenter.com, check their monthly specials)
Spyderco Native
Camillus EDC
Kershaw Blackout/Whirlwind
Kershaw Avalanche

that should be enough to keep ya goin' :)

A fully serrated Endura has been the one constant in my EDC rotation and it would be my choice of the two knives you mentioned.
I do like the design of the M16 and the new FD models in red G-10 are very nice.

The Endura is an awesome knife and is one of my very favorites, but there are a few things about it that I don't prefer:

1)It's a very large folder. It might take some time to get used to the size of it (unless you already carry the Military or something like that).

2)The blade to handle ratio is not the best. Because of the method for one-hand-closing, there is a rather large portion of exposed tang, which means a smaller cutting edge.
Benchmade has less exposed tang and more cutting edge in their similar sized axis folders.

3)The FRN is very durable and has been proven time and time again but you will experiance more flex in the handle than the aluminum M16.

I don't know if this helps, but it is something to consider.
You honestly cannot go wrong with either knife.

Good luck,
Allen.

Well, I went to the knife store yesterday and the guy behind the counter was really really helpful. He asked me right off the bat what I was looking for and I said just another EDC folder. He then got some of the folders out of the display counter/case and showed them to me while explaining certain things about each knife.

Anyway, I was there for about half an hour deciding which knife I should get and finally came to a decision. I got both the M-16 and the Kershaw Scallion. After holding the Endura, it just felt a little too big to me. Playing with the speedsafe on the scallion is really cool and so is the flipper thing on the M-16. So hooray for me, 2 new knives that I "need" :D.

Congrats on your new knives!
You're right, the speedsafe is very cool (and addictive).
Which M16 did you get?

Good luck,
Allen.

allenC: I got the M-16 13Z. It's nice and light and the blade locks up really well. Excellent knife for the price if you ask me. As for the speedsafe, I haven't been able to put my Scallion down yet!:D
