reading bear the dogs threads recently got me jonsing for another scandi knife... I currently have a mora clipper and a 510 and like them both..I'd like something a little more traditional looking I'm considering a woodenhandled mora or perhaps one of the ahti or jarvenpa utility pukkos...I like the mora pricing better though...THe small #2 looks almost small enough to be a back pocket knife or a necker...those red painted handles get awful slippery though....Any mods to improve that? also exactly how strong are the wood handled moras (not that I plan to abuse them ) but it's nice to know what to expect.

If I had some spare cash to get another scandi, my first choice would be the Jarvenpaa Aito. I don't own one or know much about them, but I sure do like the aesthetics and overall dimensions.

You might also visit knifeforums.com, Scandinavian subforum and see if RC or Spork would be willing to part with one of many of the fine knives they make, some real beauties I tell you, and according to them, alot of them just sit in a box in there closets.

Sounds like time for some DIY fun :)
Quality bare blades are quite affordable from ragnar and you can make the handle of your choice.
It is a great project to keep cabin fever at bay.

I've showed the pics of mine enough...

Give it a shot, you'll have fun :)

i have a plain wood handled #1 from leevalley made by frosts, i think ragnar sells them too.

i gave it a couple of wipes of danish oil. very light knife. the handle is a bit small, and it could be improved with some hatching with a course file or burning. i love it though, great little knife that could do very well for a backpocket knife. it usually rides on my right hip just ahead of the hip beltloop, sitting just about where my pocket is. it has ended up in my back right pocket on a couple of occasions though.
