Time to buy my wife a new EDC, which Delica?

Got my wife a ffg purple delica 4. It sat on the counter for a month or so while she carried her mini grip.

One day she couldn't find her grip on the way to help set up a festival event site. So she grabbed the delica 4.

It was all over after that, "it's so light! It fits my hand so well! It carries so slim! It slices so effortlessly!" And so on.

My vote is for a purple delica 4. I actually really like the purple, it's a darker purple and I think it looks really good. I would have no problem carrying it myself. The blue is very nice as well, I just wanted to get something that was uniquely hers and have her take ownership of the knife rather then just "borrowing one of mine again"

I also got her a spyderedge manbug that is surprisingly useful for its tiny size. A serrated H1 dragonfly is another good option, but again. A Delica 4 FFG is just such a great knife.

Well, Knife Works did a great job of getting the personalization done and the Delica out to me. Wife loves it. May have created another SpyderNut

I personally like the standard grind over ffg( makes me think gunpowder), as plenty sharp and very strong blade which can be pushed hard without fear....and easily sharpened with most gear what with real flats for reference. Simple is good and no clip on it if she is never going to use the clip anyhow....testdrive clip before removing, though...and perfectly purple is perfect....great choice...

Great choice. We ended up in with a purple Delica, and a yellow H1 Dragonfly Salt. They seem to make a great pair. The DF adds almost no weight but really comes in handy when you just want something small and almost transparent.

So, you like the sabre grind versions or the hollow grind like the SS models come with?

I prefer the stronger and more Lansky-friendly standard grind over full flat/full wedge grinds, paper slicing machine the flat grind may be....currently these are only two choices available as far as i know....given the lack of primary edge grind height on any standard Delica (including first Clipit), i do not think hollowgrinding allows blade to lay over any flatter before thicker upper part of blade hits...so no big deal either way...and in deep cuts, same thickness as for drag...

But as with my D4 in such a grind, it is unfortunately currently just as in a Model T.....available in any color you want, so long as that is black....i would have loved to have gotten a less threatening to observers lighter color as most all folk now associate silver and black with "threatening weapon" while purple and light green and blue are friendlier colors to them and do not scream "WEAPON! WATCH THIS GUY!!!"....

But as for grind, i need really pull or push hard on a blade at times and the standard grind plus lockback (still king of strong in widely used designs) plus huge hump for thumb pressure taking a lot of stress off of pivot, all means a knife a guy can really lean on without fear of failure or impaling hand on blade shard stuck in a surface....or hand zinging over same on a pull cut when blade breaks (which i have had happen and lucky only stitches and not loss of a digit or two).

We all have reasons for favorites and mine is knowing my/the world is not only made out of cardboard needing cutting.

I got my wife the purple ffg delica 4. She said she liked it and kinda shrugged. I ask what she was expecting and she picked up my coyote brown ffg endura 4 and said do they make this in purple. Next round of ordering I guess she's getting an endura 4.

With that said the delica 4 has not left her pocket except at work. So I guess she does like it after all.
