Time to get cooking! 1,000 post GAW. *WINNER CHOSEN*

Beckerhead #60 reporting for KP duty

It's a simple meal, but one of my favorites :)

Ribs eyes ! Seasoned with sea salt, pepper and touch of garlic.
Grilled with peppers and onions

Served with baked red potato (real butter and sour cream)
Fresh corn on the cob (sea salt and real butter)

And enjoy with a cold beer !

The steak knife goes on the right, Cobra.

j/k, nice job and a tasty looking meal!

Man I was hoping for a win by default. Now that there is fierce competition I may just have to revisit my entry

Like I said in my edited post, my entry is tentative, but I might take some pictures of the dinner I'm making for me and my brother just so I can add content.

Nice job so far guys. Here's a tip Ox - even if the dish is basic, plating / presenting on a clean table instead of a dirty stove would help a lot. Sprinkle a little chopped chive on top, even, to give it some contrasting color. :) See Clich's entry to get a good look at how some fresh seasoning dresses up a plate.

Like I said, I didn't have all that much to do with it, there is a lack of anything to make stuff look prettier around here right now. Sorry about the dirty stove, I was in the process of cleaning it when my brother decided it was dinner time. I probably could have found some seasonings, but oregano doesn't add that much pretty to it. Besides, if any of you had seen what I did to the mac & cheese afterward, you would run me off the forum with machaxen and pitch forks....

FWIW oXide, I dig the hell out of hot dogs/mac & cheese! In fact, I just might make that for lunch today!

Thanks MikeyJ, but I think you'll kill me when I tell you that I dumped half a bottle of ketchup into it (yeah, I like ketchup that much)....

You said you might update, so those were helpful hints, not criticism. :) As for the ketchup, that's just plain wrong. Now Frank's Red Hot would be another story!

But I like ketchup! I thought I was being very conservative with only half a bottle! :D

Made this the other night before I put the tabasco patina on the BK-11.
Grilled, marinated sirloin with augraten rice, brocolli with cheese, and salt and peppered tomatoes on baby spinach.
Garlic toast on the side. Turned out delicious. Thanks for the chance!!

Pre heated the grill to about 300 then turned the heat down all the way. (wish I had tome to start up the charcoal grill but I didnt)

Same thing except molested with sweet baby rays and some Italian dressing

All this left my 11 with a pretty cool spotted patina (hard to see in the pics)

I think the 11 liked coke as well

I did most of this while listening to freebird :D

I took your advice mrn8, and I made a decent looking meal today, I wanted to share it just as something pretty(ish), not a revised entry, but I lost my camera's data cable!
Just wanted to let you know I did take your advice.

Sloppy Joes on a hard-ish roll with salt and peppered garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. AND I took the picture on a clean table! With a fork. :D

Just edited my entry into my post on Page 1. Everyone did such an awesome job, I don't have high hopes for myself haha but thanks for the chance!

NOT AN OFFICIAL ENTRY

Cooked up some nice lunch today and thought I'd throw a pic of it in here, hope you don't mind mrn8 I thought ya'll might enjoy and this seemed the best thread to put it in, my other entry on page 1 is still what I am officially going with. Mrn8 if you'd like this taken down shoot me a PM and I'll take it down. I thought this contest could use a bump anyways, it's almost over!

For lunch today I made garlic herb parmesan risotto (honest truth, it was out of a box and I just fancied it up with some white wine, real garlic, and shredded parm garnish) and I broiled some chops that I glazed with maple syrup, dijon mustard, olive oil, rosemary, Worcestershire, a dash of Frank's Red Hot for heat and tang, salt, cracked black pepper, and a bit of garlic. I then reduced the remaining glaze with chicken stock, a dash or paprika, and the pan juices from cooking the chops and topped the cooked chops with this sauce/demi glace. Garnish with parsley.

Thanks RB! I'm out of town, but will get to the judging later this week.

The winner has been chosen! My uncle (who's a professional chef), a close friend who worked a long time in the food industry,my wife and I judged these. Some comments for your enjoyment:

  • "The fingers on the hot dog just about made me vomit"
  • None of those knives look like proper kitchen tools. You're a cruel man."

The contest winner was picked 3-1. My wife picked RogueBowie's entry, saying that it was so well presented, she knew how it tasted and it's good! The remaining three votes went to MikeyJ and his Chicken Marsala! Excellent ingredients were picked to make an excellent dish. Great job MikeyJ, you are the winner! Please send your choice of BK&T Micarta scales, a BK11, or a BK14 and your mailing address to me via pm or email.

Thanks for participating everyone, this was fun!
