Time to lighten the load......

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to try to find out what my knives were worth before I posted any for sale. I may have to rethink that. I have several Swamp Rat, Gossman, and some old timers too. This is turning out to be a bigger project than I thought.

Break them down into smaller groups from the same maker, say 5 blades. Post in this thread what knives they are, people will give you pretty accurate prices. After that you can list them for sale on the exchange.

Rinse and repeat..

You could also ask people for quick sale, reasonable sale, and not really hoping to sell but listing anyways prices. Then you can see the variance as well

Good to see you went gold!

I just sent you a PM with my email address, you know, to prove to myself that I have self control. (Fast forward: I have no self control)
Hello,

I have to beg ignorance here. After being gone so many years I don't know how to access the pm. Nothing came through on my own e-mail.

Well here goes. I am going to try to post some pics of what I want to sell. At this time I am wanting to find out current values on these items. This first one is a SHBM. I bought this from Kevin Estela years ago. It has a Survival Sytem's sheath and had the smooth coating removed from the knife. Kevin told me he bought it from Marc Fratello (Busse shop?) in 2003. After I received it from Kevin I sent it to Busse and had it sharpened. When I got it back from the shop it went into the safe and I never used it. It is a used knife however (just not by me) and has some scratches and marks on the blade.

The next one is what I believe is a FBMLE #50. If I am wrong please correct me. The knife is 16-3/16" long and 9/32" thick. Could it be a HOG? This one one comes with an Armor All Leather sheath. New, and never been used.

This next one is what I think is a HOGFSH with an Armor All Leather sheath. If I am wrong please correct me. New and never been out of the safe.

The next one I think is also a HOGFSH. It is9/32" thick and 11-7/8" long. It has the standard Busse cardboard blade protector and has been in the safe since I got it.unsure which Steelheart 2.JPG

This is all the pics I will do on this reply. I will try to get more loaded on another one. Again I am looking for help with current prices/values. Thank you!

Here comes some more:

The next two are a pair of SMOG Game Wardens. One serrated, the other not. They have the cardboard sheath from Busse. The guys I got them from stated they never used them, I never did either. Again, in the safe since day one.

The next ones are a pair of Busse SAR Wardens. They will each be paired with a black leather sheath from Chuddy Bear (if memory serves) (If I am wrong, please correct me).

Next up is the Orange Warden. Never been used, in the safe since I got it.

Next is the Tan Warden. With a leather Chuddy Bear sheath. Never been used.

That's it for this one.

The last one is an ASH 1. A spine shot would be helpful or if you can put some calipers on the blade. They have come on .187" (skinny), .22", and .32" (fat) thickness.

The 2nd to last looks like it has snakeskin micarta scales on it which are very desirable and increase the value. A pic with different lighting could confirm however with the pics provided fairly certain they're snakeskin.

I'm interested in purchasing all of them once you come up with pricing.

Very nice blades.

Edit for clarification - referring to the blades posted before the Game Wardens.

Another round: These are Swamp Rat. Maybe I should post 'em there?

Swamprat Rat Trap. The mythical Busse kin folder. I bought this, brought it to the fire hall the afternoon I received it and used it to cut some backboards out of their cardboard shipping boxes. I hit a staple and nicked the edge. I was told by someone with better eyesight that it rolled the edge. You can feel the nick in the edge with your finger nail. I never attempted to resharpen or hone the edge. It went into the padded case in into the safe and there it has been ever since.

Ran out of space. Have to post the Bog Dogs on the next reply.

Here are the two Bog Dogs:

Swamp Rat Bog Dogs. Both come with an Armor All Leather sheath. Both were carried and used for two weekends of the Minnesota deer season the year I got them. They both got to gut and skin a deer. After season they were put into the safe and never used again. One has the engraving/etching on the blade the other does not.

I have a question regarding the sales of these blades. Is paypal required or do people still take money orders and checks or has there been any problems with that since I have been gone? I do appreciate the info and comments.

People still take money orders and checks. Does the hofsh have the same grip color as the fbmle? If so that would mean it's worth a lot more money. Nice collection of busse. You should keep them and get your bit back on the forums. Those are some key pieces of anyone's collection. Putting a price on them is tough. Worth is definitely up to who wants/needs it most. Second one you have listed is an ash.

Nice collection! I suggest you keep one or two for yourself, especially if you don't need the money from the sale. Also, you may want to save one or two for your kids, they may grow to appreciate them at some point, and I think a monkey could be trained to use hand grenades, haha.

My hunch is that you are going to get a lot of PM's with offers on the first 3 knives you posted. I really suggest you think on all offers before selling those ones, especially the HOGFSH and FBMLE. The Busse secondary market has come down in price considerably over the last couple years, but those two are quite special.

Here are some older pics I found of the FBMLE & the HOGFSH that are clear and show the colors for those that have asked me. Also, some thought they were snakeskin. I don't remember from that far back. What makes it snakeskin? The handle of the FBMLE is definitely darker than the HOGFSH.

Thanks zmbhntr! I had to laugh at your statement about the monkey. Nothing will change there! You are right, it has sparked some interest. I guess I didn't realize how it would be. Like I said before though, it is time to move the stuff. Take care!

Just a random note, but your two bog dogs are different steels. The unmarked one is D2, the marked one obviously is SR101.
