It is the time of the year for all knifemakers to say Thank You to their support staff, your families.

As for myself I am sure that I couldn't carry on in this business without the support of Carol, my loving wife, book keeper, customer relations manager, store manager, business manager, quality control, vice president of our company and care giver.

An honorable mention goes to Maggie our German Sheppard pup who is in charge of letting me know whenever we have visitors.

I am in their debt and appreciate their support.

Thank you both.

George

First I will say thanks to my wife who puts up with the mess in the garage, the books in the living room, and knives in the kitchen, etc. And to my Mother in Law for watching my daughter while I make knives. And to my father or hooking me up with some tools.

Thanks,
Allen

I want to thank the hosts and the mods here for the place and their efforts that make it work here. Also, want to thank everyone who helps out with tips, pictures, information, links and just plain old friendship. I have really enjoyed getting to know the people here and learning with them and from them. THANKS EVERYONE and have some Happy Holidays, friends and families. Jim

I also would like to thank the hosts of this wonderous site as well as all the makers who make it the best learning tool I have ever seen! Thank you to my girlfriend (soon to be fiance....ssshhhhhh, she won't know that until Christmas) for puting up with my obsession. And a very special thanks to Scott Ickes who brought a new life to forum coming up with the Christmas Knife Exchange and the Newbie Collaboration. Personally, I like to cast a vote to him for member of the year :) And of course, thank you to all the friends I've made through the site!!!

My wife for having the faith in my work to push me to develop my metalworking into a serious business rather than "just a hobby" as my previous girlfriends had considered it. She when we were dating used to meet me in my shop in Ithaca, hang out and read and keep me company while I worked, so much so that when she smells hot metal or hears the belt grinder she still gets sleepy :)
She even purchased my first trip to Ashokan for my birthday! (now THERE's a KEEPER!)
Any woman crazy enough to marry an artist and be happy with her choice is a gift straight from the gods,
and for that I'm most thankful.

And for all of the rest of you out there, especially Kevin, Mete, and Stacy who share your knowlege to help bring our craft to a higher level Thank you.

Good thought, George!

My wife of 33 years, Nancy, takes care of me, and without her I wouldn't be able to get by. I couldn't have a better friend, either. She's supported the knifemaking without reservation from Day 1 in 1981. My gratitude to her is beyond words.

My pit bull, Jojo, is a joy and I cherish his friendship, too. A great dog and a source of constant fun.

I deeply appreciate the dear friends I've made from the forums over the years, too. You guys who write and call me keep me from going stir crazy as a shut-in. Thank you for your friendship, it's treasured.

And thanks all for this forum. My home on the Internet. I continue to learn here every day.

I hope everyone has a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2008!

I would like to thank all of you guys here for helping me out while I'm learning to forge and HT knives. I'd be going in circles trying to figure out how to do things without you all.
I'd like to especially thank Sam Salvati for having the patience for teaching me how to forge and grind;
some of his teaching actually got through my thick skull. :)
Thanks, Buddy.
Merry Christmas to you all.

"Thankyou" George, after 30 years you still know how to get my attention :)
From a Knifemakers wife perspective, watching you fellows work with these sharp objects all hours of the day or night, watching you hurt yourselves, rejoicing when you find a solution to a design problem, sharing your joy when your customers show delight in your creation, having customers become extended family. All of these things make what we do worthwhile. Besides of course the main reason that we do what we do.............we Love you.

Merry Christmas to All, Carol Tichbourne

First I want to thank God for letting me do what I do. I also want to thank my wife for her encouragement. Thanks for all the phone calls and email and to all who has posted in my guest book on my website.

And I want to thank one of my son's that has appreciated and encouraged me since I've been a knife maker. And his name is Chris. Chris has leukemia.

I feel that I have made some good friends here and hope that I have helped in some way. I do a lot reading here and I am amazed with all the knowledge that's been posted, thanks for that information. I know we all don't agree always but we all mean well and that's the important part of the business.

I am also thankful to Bladeforums and Staff for allowing all of us to correspond with each other on a daily basis. Thanks to the founders of this service.

I am also thankful for the opportunity to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. May we all have a great year to come in 2008. ---:)

I would like to say Thanks to my wife of 16 years Donna...She has put up with my knife making for 15 of those years.I can still hear her ask me if I really had to work on those first knives at the kitchen table, guess filing sounds are ruff to listen to all night. But she had the patience with me and encouraged me to keep making knives...It was her Idea when I went full time, and she agreed that she would support me through it all no matter what. After being sick the last couple of years I have felt like I am not helping out enough, but she hasnt faltered and just says Youll get better one of these days and it will all work out.
Most of you will rememeber when she modeled all my knives for me,so you could have something to compare the size to.She didnt stop when we got hate mail and I have got to love her for that.
If I have ever needed anything for the shop she just says get it or we will have to save up some then you can get it.Gotta love her for that also...
Donna is my Rock and my best friend in the world I dont know what I would do if anything ever happened to her...
My daughters support me to a point but Donna is their all the time. She has put up with many late to all night forging seshions and many many late nights in the shop. She said she was fussing about it to a frind once and they just asked her if she knew I was in the shop "yes she said I can see him out the bedroom window" her friend just said whats the problem,at least he isnt out at bars and stuff and you dont know where he is at! She has never said anything about it since as she said that made perfect sense...

Thanks to all my friends here on the forums I have made over the years,I really want to thank all who helped us out last year with the auction and donations,Donna actually set down and cried when the first check came in the mail, and said that she didnt think people could care that much for others anymore.

I just want to say I love Everybody and want to Thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

Gotta love the shop dog I have also as he never leaves me when I am out in the shop and the shop cats for keeping all the little critters outta the stag handle material...

Merry Christmas to all and I hope you all will have a great 2008!!!!
Bruce

I've only posted here a couple of times but I'm here reading every day. The amount of knowledge here amazes me and how it's given out so freely is great. I can't name everyone I've learned something from so I don't want to leave anyone out. Thank you all very much.

One name I do have to put out there and I hope he stops in to read it is Sarge. Thanks to his project "Po' boy puuko" I finely stopped reading and made a knife.(such as it is) Knives 2&3 are presents this year. Hope all is well with him.

[tongue in cheek]I am thankful for Al Gore because if it were not for him creating the Internet then none of us would be here right now![/tongue in cheek]

Actually, I am thankful for many that I have met on this World Wide Web and some I have even met face to face. To mention a few...

The original poster of this thread, George Tichbourne. I met him in Austin once and he is a fine fellow.

A little known fact is that it was Darrell Ralph's idea for a supplier's list those number of years ago, I was only the one naive enough to think it would be a piece of cake.

Dan Gray, I look forward to your posts.

Terry Primos has inspired me in more ways than one. Not only has Terry made some very fine pieces of cutlery, he is also one person I call friend.

JeffJ...I need not say more. What a guy!

Jerry Hossom and Tom Mayo from the old days on Bladeforums. I still miss the banter...and the nurturing.

Most of all I need to thank Bruce Fuller. He has dragged me along kicking and screaming and he is a true master in this field. Bruce has a way of keeping things simple as he explains things to this hard-headed bladesmith.

The other two Bruces on this forum, the one in the Northwest and the one in Mississippi...I have learned a lot from. Thanks, guys.

There are so many new names here that I don't recognize but there is no one to blame but myself. For that, I must apologize.

I know that I have left some others out. For that, I apologize...

Now, where is that Tim Herman fellow???

Craig
