So after looking around at different belt grinders, I decided to pull the trigger on the kmg. I looked into the esteem, coote, and pheer and kmg. I think the kmg was the best option for my needs. I ordered their package deal with the 10 in wheel, and flat platen. I also decided to get the variable speed option. This is a big step up from my 1x42 lee valley grinder I have been using. I will post pictures as soon as I receive the grinder. For those who have this grinder are there any tips or suggestions that you may have about the setup. Thanks

i flipped the tooling arm lock screw to the opposite side so I could push the tension arm down with my left hand and tighten with my right.

out of the package the wheels may not be aligned perfectly, check and adjust if necessary for a much happier life

get a ceramic platen liner, belts run cooler and you won't wallow out a hollow in teh platen

Thanks.. I will have to get a ceramic platen liner. I appreciate the feed back

I made a larger work rest with some 6061 aluminum. I also bought a piece of 1.5" square aluminum for another tool arm and tapped it. Going back and forth between the wheel, platen, and small wheel holder is quicker. Bought a small wheel holder off of ebay and a couple of wheels for handles and finger choils. I've been thinking about the pyroceramic liners too but haven't pulled the trigger yet.
