Times when you needed a knife...but...

I suggest your next DIY be a lobotomy !
It's really not that hard. Did me no end of good. I'm much more relaxed now.
I believe the technical term for my previous condition in psychiatric terminology was : cross eyed badger spit.
Of course I have to get used to where ever I'm propped up now but that's not so bad really . . .

I went to the mailbox today with my son in his car as I had a package to pick up. The package contained a Spyderco Ladybug and a Kershaw Camp 18” machete.

Yup, I had no knife with me to open up my knife package.

I do have a tiny Kershaw blade on my keychain, but it wasn’t with me.
That would be a dilemma :
Whether to gnaw the end off the box of the Ladybug to get to it to open the machete box or gnaw the end off the machete box to open the Ladybug with. Machete first sounds like the most fun.

Both were in the same box. Had to wait an hour until we got back home. Stupid shipping tape!

99% of the time if I'm awake I have a knife on me. But occasionally I get up in the morning, I'm still in my "pajamas" for a few minutes and I need a knife. I find this very embarrassing.

One time I was at a UAW Hall in town where I thought there was a knife show (got the date wrong, it was the previous day) when I heard a loud noise. I look around the corner and a woman hit a telephone pole and flipped her car. She was okay but very panicked. I will never live down not having a knife on me to cut her seatbelt free so she could get out of the car. I ran back to my car as fast as I could, but others arrived to help by the time I got back.

I will NEVER not have a knife on me a single day in the future now. As a knife guy, not having one with you when somebody's life could have been at risk and you needed the knife... It is just shameful to think about. I am very glad she was okay, but I was totally useless even though I was quick to respond.

I usually carry two knives . One plain edge for utility and one fully serrated for such emergencies as you describe . The SE knife is always factory sharp (or better) because I don't use it routinely . It's just along for the ride to deal with the worst case "what if " .
