Does anyone know anywhere to have knife blades and maybe guns coated with TiN. It seems to be superior to black-t as far as wear goes.

I know Walter Birdsong will coat individual knives with black-t but I prefer TiN.

Also I have heard that studies show TiN coated blades to cut better and have better edge retention. Could this be due to the lower coefficient of friction?

You might want to look at <a href="http://www.multi-arc.com">Multi-Arc</a>'s website. Some of the coatings with TiN, TiAlN, and CrN.

<a href="http://www.tigold.com">TiGold</a> does Blak-Ti coating. I think MicroTech uses them for their black bladed knives. Custom knifemaker Larry Harley is a rep for TiGold. He can be reached at hrlyblade@aol.com

Gretings Shootist. Can you supply info for Birdsong? Web? E- mail? Phone #? What do they charge for finishing a fixed blade? Thanks.

I don't know how much he gets. I have emailed the places that Dex suggested for black-Ti but haven't gotten a response yet.
