Tina 606, and no, it's not my girlfriends weight ;-)

Nice Ken, glad it finally arrived safely, also inside the box was another box, a presentation case as it were, with 4 slots that you can store 'things' inside safely. The Big Nut is pretty special as well, as that was gifted to me by a fellow forum member Kodiak PA MANY many years ago, thanks Greg! and I've sharpened up the blades and wanted to pass this along to you. The Gold book mark is also pretty old, I got that way back in the early 80's used on occasion but always liked it's delicate features, pretty kool book mark. and the coin, a US Dollar from 14 years ago, also pretty old and will just continue to get older and was sent in remembrance of the Tina you had sent, as Ken had already sent me a coin from Australia, it seemed only fitting to send a knife in exchange ;)

Again sir, glad it finally made it through the Australian front lines and all the way to your house safely!!
Thanks Ken, nice shot by the way too :)

Thanks Gary x 100

When I was sixteen (1969) I worked at the original Wolfe's Nursery in Stephenville, Tx. It was a huge pecan tree operation and other things. Somebody decided to let me bud pecan trees with the regular full-time help. One of the old timers gave me a hand-me-down budding knife, so they got a brand new one. I still have the double-bladed TINA budding knife and plenty good memories of being a field hand.

Nice ol' smoke, good to hear they are still alive and well ! Had mine out for a bit of cutting yesterday, sharpened her up just a tad last night and that carbon steel sure takes a wicked edge on her!!! and that point, amazingly pointy!

a very comfy handle and I really like the blade to handle ratio, great control there. When I'm more mobile from this busted ankle I'll make a sheath to carry her about!

Every time I view this thread , I end up digging one of my Tina's out of my knife drawer and carrying it for the day .
I have a special knife that I just received that is taking up most of my attention at the moment , but my Tina 605 will travel along to partner it today .
Great pictures .

Update to the thread, Tina's got a boyfriend, his name is Butch...or rather Birch, yeah that's it ;) a surprise packet from Ken showed upon my doorsteps yesterday of all things a Carbone bladed Le Thiers Compagnon by Chambriard with Birch scales and stainless bolsters. I've not had one of theirs with a Carbone blade, sure sharpens up great!! This was one Ken has been using so there is some patina, I've cleaned some of that off and touched up the blade, but other than that good to go. And not only did the knife show up, it was nestled inside a sheath made by Ken as well, very very nicely made sheath too, some extra touches of his own design, well thought out I might add.
Also, so the Thier wouldn't be lonely on the long trip, there was a SAK Electrician inside the box as well, it was a terrific Friday night folks, I'm still a little giddy.
Here are some images of the knife and sheath;

I'm sure it didn't look that clean when I posted it :)
I'm interested to know how you find the different blade steel ?
Will this one achieve the " cut the phone book test " ?

Ken

Thanks and Ken, easy peasy on the book cut, of course my wife isn't too happy as now BOTH ends of the book has corners cut off, but, it's her fault, she wasn't in the kitchen at the time ;)

The Thiers pressed down easily through the book, took the resulting triangle and sliced down through that as well...

edited to add the other end of that phone book that was cut with also another Chambriard, Le Compact with stag scales, stainless blade

Go over to a friends house ;)

This was about the only book in the house I could cut, as we are trying to sell our house and move closer to our grandkids as my wife babysits and right now she puts about a 100 miles each day just for that, so closer is better. So we started clearing out things now to help in the move, but it may not happen this year :(

I've not been game enough to put my knife sharpening skills to the test , but that is impressive
After you have used it for a while I'd would be interested to know your thoughts on the Carbone vs Stainless comparison .
I'm a Carbon type of guy , but I'm open to suggestions :)
