I've been kinda hard on TiNives in these forums, because I couldn't get an answer to a simple question: can I get a TiNives with a clip, as shown on the website? After e-mailing and calling with no success, I eventually sold my TiNives in frustration.

Well, last week I tried calling again, and I got a hold of the owner/maker, Mr. Self. I had a very pleasant conversation with Mr. Self, and he made it clear that he had nothing better to do than find out what I needed. I eventually ordered a knife, built to my specifications, at a cost much lower than shown on the website.

Bottom line: if you need a TiNives or have questions about their products, keep trying to call them. It may not be easy to get a hold of them, but once you do, the customer service is first class.

What you describe is NOT first class customer service. First class customer service replies to email and returns phone calls.

Exactly... that is a reason I never bought from them.

What I said in my post is that once you get a hold of Mr. Self, the customer service is outstanding. I'm sure all of us know at least one person who manufactures a good product, but can't afford to hire a large staff, to expand beyond a "one-man operation". Does that make them or their product any less worthy of our consideration?

All I wanted to say is if you, like me, wanted to buy a TiNives product but were put off by some of the posts on these forums, to give them a shot, and that you won't be disappointed. Mr. Self provides the best customer service that he can, given the circumstances.

I cannot call (too expensive) but I would appreciate at least an e-mail response. Check their forum (more than year back) and you will see that their business practice did not change...

But I am glad that you like their product - no doubt they can make great knives - just their marketing does not exist...
