Kevin, quenching can be done point down, edge down, edge up ---but never side down [ that WILL warp !! ] Some agitation should be used. Edge to spine is best , side to side not good .

No cracks this time but I don't like the hamon. Gonna push my luck and redo it tomorrow. I didn't even take a pic of it. I'll post a pic of the hamon tomorrow.

I agree with the other guys! Hold your breath until the snap temper to inspect your hamon! i know it's not so easy, eh eh

Strange. I have never had W2 or 1084 crack. As a matter of fact, since i got a real HT setup, I have only had two blades crack, one damascus and one CruForgeV, and I know the cause of both.
