• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I have realized that sometimes when I have trouble opening a traditional folder, it's not because the spring has too much tension. It's because of the geometry of the nail nicks. That is, I can't get a good angle with my thumbnail. So here is my attempt at tinkering:

(hope you can see- it's also my first attempt at posting a photo here!)

I filed the scale down in front of the spey blade so my thumb can get the better angle on it, and put a little swedge on it, so I could get to the sheepsfoot easier. I'm pretty happy with it!

It seems to me, that if the nick is farther away from the pivot, it would be a lot easier to pull. I love the look of long pulls, so maybe someday I'll try turning one of those half moons into one.
