Okay, guys. Part 1 went well.

My new tip is for tapping small holes )0x80 up to 4x40) I use a Skil Power Twist recharbeable screwdriver. The torque is just right and never breaks a tap. I use a small keyless chuck to hold the taps. $10 or less and it works and has for many years.

Come on, guys, keep them coming. We'll archive this and keep it forever.

Hey! Thats a great tip Kit! I would have never thought of it. You mention using a small keyless chuck. Is the skil-twist drill one of the inline models? And does it utilize the "slip in" style bits? I'm certainly going to use this one! Thanks!

Ed, the chuck is the slip in kind. I got mine at a Black and Decker store. I think WalMart carries them.

Jay, That one crossed my mine several times. I figured I'd just get it going and see where it leads.

Thanks Kits!!!!!!! I was wondering where the $250 was coming from for one of those tap ease rigs. i've got a small keyless chuck. Take care! Michael

scribing center lines.....i have a real nice precision height gage...used to use it all the time...but it got so dragging it out, setting it up...measuring where i wanted the line to be etc was toooo time consuming... so i got a thick rectangular block of brass... measured it for the placement of a hole, drilled hole..epoxied tip of carbide scribe. on one end it scribes 1/4" stock perfectly, turn it 90 degrees and it works perfect for 3/16....for thin stock...i grind the hard end of a file from both sides to form a pointed edge, put the file flat on my table saw table...and scribe away....works great...quick and easy.
