On another thread i read about coating ivory and wood with super glue to stabilize and fill small cracks and gaps. Somebody suggested to just put it on with latex gloves. Don't do that, because the gloves will stick to the glue bottle and the working piece and will tear off and you will have small, hard to remove super glue covered latex pieces everywhere.

Try very thin polyethylene foil instead. Small plastic bags can be used as a sort of gloves. Nearly nothing, not even super glue, sticks to polyethylene.
You can also use pieces of the foil to protect all surfaces which should not be covered with super glue.

Actually your finger works the best.Be careful don't pick your nose.
Acetine will take super glue off your finger.
I tried loc-tite after hearing about it on this forum. It does a great job.

I have only used super glue on very small pieces, but I have had no trouble with latex gloves. Vinyl gloves did not work well for me. They stuck to the work piece and my fingers. Achim , your idea makes a lot of sense and I will try it.
