Tip up carry vs Tip down carry Your thoughts

With the tip up and the blade against the pocket seam it opened slightly (blade pushed the handle away about 1") When I went to put my hand in the pocket, my finger ran down the length of the blade tip. If it was tip down I think it would have run against the back of the blade. Any knife open in the pocket is trouble. I hope this explains my reason for the statement I made.

im not suggesting your reasoning is unsound, simply saying if you put your hand in a pocket that contains an open folder, getting cut is likely the end result.

yours just happened to be a tip down version. and this actually may have saved some bloodshed since the seam kept the blade from opening fully.

i dont know, i currently own only one auto, and it hasn't been carried in several years.

tip up, right hand, RFP carry puts the blade against the seam of the pocket, as has been stated.

I really don't like tip down much, even in spydies, it's part of the reason I got rid of my para, and the main reason I got rid of my Leek (other than it just didn't seem to fit quite right in my hand).

I never had and cuts with a knife in the pocket, but a couple close calls always tip down knives, usually ones with poor closed retention. (had a kershaw AO with the safety and the safety broke off, came open a bit)

That said, tip down is fine, it's purely what you are comfy with.
