Tip up Military

I hope it's ok to ask here. The maintenance and tinkering forum seemed an odd place to ask about a Spyderco.

I have been itching for a Military/Para for some time. I bought an ATR a couple of weeks ago and am loving the tip up, compression lock that the knife offers.

The tip down has kept me from pulling the trigger otherwise I would probably have a Para and a Military by now.

Who does a Tip up conversion?

Thanks.

STR. I have a Para modded for tip-up carry that he did, and I love it. Check out his subforum in the Maker's section.

 for STR's work. He's the guy to go to for Spydie mods. I've seen nice work from a couple of other forumites, but Steve's prolly done more Spydies than anyone else.

Many thanks!!

I have gone nuts over this ATR. I can open AND CLOSE it as fast as an axis knife. It's just takes a little practice with placing the forefinger on the lock, but what makes it possible is that it's a tip up carry.

A Para is definitly in my future now!

Thanks again!

STR is da bomb. Tip up / deep carry conversion.

Everyone knows that God intended folders to be carried tip-up, so that your thumb naturally lands on the Spydie hole or thumb stud as you reach in your pocket. The Military really could use a tip-up flavor. :)

Both clips look great.

I'd get a Para if Sal put one of those on them:D

Sorry, but tip down is the only way to go! :D

Now if only I could get a left handed, tip-down Military and ParaMiliatary!

A simple solution is to tap them for both options, so we can choose. It really should be a standard feature for a high-end knife like this one.

Because the knife (Millie and Para) don't have any liners, it is difficult to put a 4 position clip on them. I personally love the thiness of the handles. You don't really need liners on them all all. I'm also exceedingly comfortable with tip down carry. I think tip down tends to gunk up the knife cause your sticking the pivot in all the gunk in the pocket.

STR's work seems excellent though, I've seem most of the pics, and that'd be the best bet.
