Tip up or Tip down carry?

First it is personal preference, but I like tip down since if there was any thing wrong with retention if it was tip up the blade would poke my hand if I were reaching for it.

OH ,,,, now i get it ...
i dont carry pocket clip knives as they ware out the pocket edge..
also in some places if a LEO sees the clip they take the knife!
yea ask any one in NY..
DC is starting to ...
yea my 110 goes in point up also
Wow Dave I had no idea the laws in NY are so crazy:thumbdn:I know DC is Looney town:eek:That's two places I'd end up in trouble:barf:

TIp down, buck Odyssey. many years ago, I had one of the first "tactical" knives, spent a lot of money on it, it was tip up, twice it bit me when I was reaching into my pocket First time was a finger nick but the second was much worse, the knife blade opening about 3/4 of an inch and then when I reach in, it sliced my middle finger from nail to palm. 55 stitches comes to mind and it still hurts a lot in the cold

I prefer tip up carry unless it is a flipper. Then tip down seems to work better. I can't seem to figure out why this works better but it does.

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, as did one other person. I'm surprised that more haven't cited it as a danger.

It seems to me that this is the likely eventual outcome of carrying tip-up, even though it may not actually happen for a few years.

Maybe some just haven't carried that way long enough to get bit. Optimists.....

:)

Tip up and the pivot is in the pocket lint. My 486, that is in my pocket is a tip up.

This is actually why I DO carry tip-up. I had one of my tip-down (pivot up) folders clipped in my pocket a while back, while I was working in the yard (mowing). By the time I'd finished, the exposed pivot was CAKED with dust/dirt/grass. Given a choice between that or just simple pocket lint, I'd rather have the lint. It's easier to deal with, and if you clean/vacuum the lint out of your pockets after the jeans come out of the dryer, it's never much of an issue anyway.
