Tip up or tip down with a flipper?

The only time I had mine ever creep open (and just slightly) was while mountain biking. I figured it could happen with the amount of movement that's involved. Other than that though, I haven't noticed it open under "normal" circumstances. If it ever does happen though, I will be sure to post. N2K, I was reading about how you spend so much time adjusting yours and was thinking to myself "I'm not the only one!" :D
 
They come from the Ranch set up just about right, if not perfect for most. It's only when I take them apart for servicing that I spend any amount of time adjusting. Don't want anyone to think they come in need of adjustment.
 
Yes, they do come perfect. The only reason I ever need to re-adjust it is after cleaning it periodically. I also want to add that its not difficult to get them perfect again after reassembly. A bit time consuming but not hard.
 
I have carried my XM-18 3.5 tip up with never a problem (9 mo.). I have just got a XM-3" and I am trying it with no clip, it slips in the pocket so nice. I will see how this works for a while.

I don't know about him but for me, if it has a flipper, it has to be tip up to keep it from opening on the draw. A flipper, carried tip down, will catch my jeans and open similar to how a wave works. I prefer not to have that happen.

If a knife doesn't have a flipper, I prefer tip down carry.
 
I totally understand now that I have my XM-18 flipper in pocket. Tip up all the way for me, no way it can pop open as I keep it in my right pocket snugged up against the back seam.
 
Exactly. I cut myself on a half opened flipper a long time ago and learned then that they had to be tip up in my pocket.

When I was young I had a very hot math teacher, Ms. McDonald. So, being typically bored in class, the mind started wandering and lo and behold I shazammed in my shorts but in my defense it was just the once.
