Tip up? Tip down? advice please.

I would take any advice that is strongly for or against either method with a huge helping of skepticism. After over a decade of carrying knives clipped both ways in all manner of configurations I've found both to perform about the same regardless of knife size or opening method.

I prefer tip up because it feels most natural to me. I've been poked and cut by knives in both tip up and tip down. I can retrieve my tip up knives just as fast as tip down.

Try both yourself and go with your heart. Anything else is just opinion; nothing more.

I honestly don't care. I tend to carry tip up because I prefer it a little more, but I won't not buy a knife that is tip down only. Also, I like to use lanyards sometimes so I also like to have the lanyard hole exposed.

It's feel for me. I like tip down on the Para 2 because it feels better in my hand than tip down. But when I switched my Yojimbo 2 tip down, the grip felt very awkward so I went back to tip up.
Same with my Endura 4. Try whichever feels best for you

There are only two general rules of thumb that I have found.

1. Use whatever works best for you

2. In general, smaller knives work better tip up and longer knives work better tip down.

For me it also depends on what pocket you are carrying in.

If it is a small knife (Blur, Native, Skyline, BM 530 etc) I will carry it tip up in my front pocket.

Larger knives (pm2, ZT0350, 0560, Hogue EX-02) I will carry tip down in my back pocket.
