I grew up with lockbacks and slipjoints, clips sure are nice sometimes though if you've gotta constantly pull your knife out for tree limbs, paper, cardboard, cheap 25 cent fishing line that tangles every cast etc.

I like pouches, am I the only one who carries knives in his breast pocket?

I voted for tip up.There's only one exception though...Spyderco's.

When I grab a spydie,I grab the spyder hole & it's much easier & faster to open with the tip down position.

Diff. makers put clips in diff positions and some offer the option of flippin it for a lefty so its hard to say.

ive been going clipless alot lately. alot of my knives have obnoxiously tight clips and it gets rather annoying

i used to prefer tip up, but i really like tip down because of spydie drop. i wish my sng could be tip down. i don't mind it though. i voted tip down.

I don't really have much of a preference one way or another when it comes to pocket clips. After carrying around traditional slipjoints for so long, it doesn't make a difference. I do like having a lanyard hole though.

My EDC is tip up, but that's just because that's how it is and can't be changed.

I don't care one way or the other really, and if a knife has multiple options, I usually just leave it set the way it came from the factory. The only knife I've ever changed to tip up was a Spyderco Centofante-4 because the point at the top of the thumb ramp was too sharp and scratched my hand every time I reached into that pocket for something other than the knife. But I didn't like it tip up because it rode too low in that configuration. So I took the clip off that knife.

If I had to pick one (since you didn't give us an "I don't care" option), I'd pick tip down just because most tip down knives tend to ride just a bit higher than tip ups.

In the end, I don't care as long as it's not a low rider clip (a disturbing trend lately).
