Tip up / Tip down - pro's and con's?

I have and use both types. Have no preference for either, since I am not likely going to be using a knife for defense. I carry a Kimber .45 pretty much everywhere I go, and it would be used before I would ever consider a knife.

Today I am carrying my Lone Wolf Harsey Tactical T1 and T3. These are tip down. Yesterday I carried my BM Rukus and mini Rukus which are tip up. I can get them out and get them opened either way, no problemo!
