tipping

I don't.

There is no good delivery pizza in Oregon, none. So, mine comes Fed Ex from Chicago. And I don't tip the Fed Ex man.

Okay I have GOT to ask. What kind of pizza is so good you get it fedexed from Chicago?

i have never had it shipped but my two favorite chicago pizza places when i lived there was

Gino's East : downtown, suburban one's not as good
pizzeria uno (original spot only...and it was better in 70s-80s) .. due's never had the same atmosphere. the chain ones suck

For delivery orders, sometimes a tip really does get results. My girlfriend, who is a generous tipper, really got good results at one of the local pizza places. She ordered her food, was told it would be about 45 minutes, paid over the phone and included a good tip. About 15 minutes later the delivery guy showed up. He told her he had bumped her order above four or five other orders because of her tip, since most of the other people either didn't tip or gave really small tips.

Who said they're too cheap to tip their server? Do you think people should still give a tip for crappy service?

Yes and no. Crappy service should be "rewarded" with a crappy tip so the message gets through that the service was substandard. I think leaving a crappy tip would get that message across better than no tip at all. I don't generally tip for take out service unless they carry the food out to the car, but for table service I would only leave no tip at all if there was some kind of dispute that the restaurant refused to work out to my satisfaction.

Gino's East.

It's not as good delivered as it is Downtown, but it's so much beter than anything around here.

I've got some friends coming for dinner tomorrow. I told 'em I was just going to get pizza delivery. They'll be pleasantly surprised.

I don't always tip for take-out, but sometimes I do. No more than 10% and it's usually because I see someone working hard to box up a large order and get all the condiments and plastic ware and extras covered.

If we're talking a BBQ sandwich and a pack of chips to go, forget it. If we're talking two or three meals with extras, then yeah, somebody had to work to put it all in there, and I appreciate it when I see someone trying to get it right.

Thanks for the tip are they online?

FedEx pizza? For real??? Does FedEx insurance pay out if it's damaged in delivery? And what, you're paying $50 for a day old pizza that you have to reheat in the oven? I am confused. Is it shipped frozen? How the heck does a hot pizza get shipped via FedEx without the cheese and sauce being splattered all over the inside of the box?

You should consider having a wood-fired brick oven installed in your house and just having the frozen dough and jarred sauce delivered -- cheese and toppings can be gotten locally.

I would order FedEx pizza from Antarctica or a tropical island, though. :)

i can't believe i still gotta tell ya this....
ya BLOW the manager and give the oldest waitress a foot massage (wearing appropriate NBC gear, of course)
shaking head running out of room with arms waving wildly and screaming,
i remain

Whoops I didn't type what I meant to. I agree service would have to be pretty awful, to get no tip at all.

Chuck - Is that the restaurant in Chicago that has graffitti all over the tables and walls? I was in Chicago for training in the late 80's. The hotel told us about a place in the city for deep dish pizza. All I remember is how good it was and the graffitti on the walls/tables. It was so good that we ate there 3 times that week. :D

I haven't had deep dish that good since. :(

Is this the order link that you use?

Arrgh. If this is the pizza place I'm thinking of, I'm going to be ordering soon...

Does the Bellagios in Tualatin deliver? Bellagios in Sellwood (Portland) is pretty darn good.

BladeWork,

That's the place and that's the URL.

brewthunda,

Bellagios delivers in Sherwood, yes. And they're the best of the bunch. But they can't hold a candle to Gino's.

I ate at Gino's one time a long time ago.

It took an hour to wait in line to get in to the place and an hour for the pizza to come. I was so starved I can't recall what the pizza tasted like at all. (plus my recollection was the group wanted spinach pizza, bunch of commies. :barf: )

usually don't tip for take out. I'm kinda doing all the work there and it's not like the cook is getting the tip.

For sit down, usually 20+ percent unless the service was terrible. When traveling on a business account usually higher.

Drinks at a bar, $2 tip for the first drink, $1 for every drink after that. Bonus at the end of the night if you totally kick ass.

For delivery, it depends on time of day, weather conditions, holidays, etc. i will tip 20% or more at night because i live in a shitty neighborhhod and anyone who risks taking a bullet to bring me food deserves the tip.

As the Lepper said to the Prostitute, keep the tip.

I appreciate good service and on my own tip 25%-35%. Poor service 10c. With family 10% - 20%. Food is expensive here.

I quit tippin' after bein' winged with a less than lethal load of Cargill rock salt from old man Austin's 12-gauge. Frickin' sleepin' cows just ain't worth that much pain no matter how much fun me an' the boys wuz havin'. Back to mailbox baseball fer me........:D
