Tips for keeping angle steady?

I use either short stroke like HH or one long swipe full length. But use one style for each session, if I interchange them, I mess up :p

And lots of practice+patience :D

What is the Japanese 2 handed technique?

This is a good illustration of the technique:

I do the mirror image technique also, which means that when I sharpen the right side of the blade, the handle is in my leftt hand, and when I sharpen the left side of the blade, the handle is in my right hand. Most seem to keep the handle in the same hand and flip the blade over to do both sides. I like the consistent picture and touch from always keeping the blade facing the same direction into the stone.

I use my fingers, usually works great, till I need to reprofile a super wear resistant steel like M4, now I don't have any finger prints left, quite painful... Atleast my knife's sharp!

I wonder if bar keepers friend works equally as well at removing skin cells as it does steel shavings, I'm pretty sure there's about 20 layers worth of skip imbedded in my XC DMT plate.

bg, Thanks for the video.
Tiguy, I always enjoy seeing your stone holder. That is a good design and ingenuity you put into it. DM
