In no particular order

Post the best pictures you can.

Always include a description.

More details are always better

Don’t forget the price

Subscribe to the thread

Enable email notification

Make a separate post in your thread for price drops or changing interests

Once 14 days have passed make a new thread

If it’s been altered or disassembled from new disclose it

If you’re posting in the trade section make sure to include what you have for trade and also what you’re looking for.

If you’re new take some time and observe how the Exchange works

If there is a problem in the thread report it, don’t comment

Always post in whatever section is most appropriate to the item

If you must cross post it should be noted in the thread to avoid confusion

Good things to remember for sure!

I would add a few things,

If you have more than one item in your sales thread, keep the listing of each item in the same order as the knives are shown so folks don't have to sort out which is what.
and keep in mind you need to show what the total is you are asking for, you are not allowed to use Net To Me any longer, keep the math simple.

Once you have sold or need to close the thread, edit the Title of the thread with the word SOLD and then LOCK the thread so that people don't check the thread out only to find out later it's all over. Just a curtesy that helps people scrolling through the pages.

International sales: Helpful to decide ahead of time about whether you'll allow international buyers and how you'll handle international sales if you do. Things to consider include making sure a potential buyer is clear about whether they're using a mail forwarding service with a US address and how you will mark a knife for customs.

Personally I recommend being up front that after a knife arrives at a mail forwarding service you will not take responsibility for loss or damage in shipping after that point. I also will not alter an otherwise new knife for purposes of getting it through customs, nor will I use a vague or misleading description such as 'camping tool' in a customs declaration or declare its value for import duties as anything but the sold price.

madcap_magician madcap_magician I like most of what you say. Agreed 100% about "camp tool". I use "cutlery" because it is both correct and innocuous, and I would much rather have unknown persons who may be looking at the package to see that rather than something like "custom knife".

I hope this part

I also will not alter an otherwise new knife for purposes of getting it through customs

doesn't mean you wouldn't tighten a pivot for a Canadian buyer. Our customs agency will, in practice, confiscate perfectly legal knives because they deem them to easy to open one handed.
