Tips on how to stop buying knives... PLEASE!!

Feel your pain OP.

I just came here several months ago with the specified intention to purchase 1 or 2 knives and then go away, and here I am now (not even counting what I've sold and given away as gifts)

^^^ You're still buying super cheap knives just because? Oh no.
Once you get some knives in the more expensive range - great quality knives you'll want less.
Trust me on that.

Sell/Trade the cheaper knives and get some better knives. I own VERY few below $90 and find myself not so bored and not buying so many.

People question (and often condemn) what they don't understand. If you want to keep you wife, AND your love affair with collecting new knives, you need to convince your lovely wife that this is important to you...and make sure you are spending money on her as well. Support her consumer needs, so she cannot argue yours.

Step one buy knife.

Step two eat ramen noodles (because you just had to buy a *insert expensive knife here*)

Step three wish you still had a wife......

I have the same problem as you. I am the only one that works, and my wife stays home with the kids. I make good money and we don't struggle, but she still gives me a little trouble when I spend a lot. What I usually try to do is, save up my money for about a month or two, then spend about 2-3 thousand all at once. That will keep me fixed for about a month. I then can sell/trade the ones I don't like as much in order to get the same fix. My problem is I always end up buying and keeping just a couple more then I sell so I have to repeat the process every few months or so. When I spend a good amount of money and see notices, sometimes I just have to endure the lecture for a couple mins, but I always do so while fondling a new knife :).

I also forgot to mention, with higher end knives, I am always telling her, if something serious came up and we needed a lot of cash, I could sell some and get it instantly. I tell her its an investment because if I didn't spend it on knives, we would spent it on something that we couldn't sell down the road. That keeps her pretty decent about the whole situation. Try it and you might be surprised

So as it says above.. i need tips on how a can stop myself from buying more knives. I most definitely have not lost my LOVE!! for knives, its just... well "THE WIFE", she is either going to A- kill me or B- well.. KILL ME. She says i can buy 1 new knife a year but i have already bought 3 and its not even February!!! The best answer to my question will hopefully involve me still getting more then 1 knife a year  if you know what i mean ;) Please HELP ME!!! I can't be the only one!!
THANKS
CHEERS!

I have no answer other than what I read here once. Try using the knives you have. Sound silly ?, not really. I have knives that i've used 2-3 times then boom, into a box. I go in and out of trying to be practical....... and then lusting. It seems that I have a weakness, particularly when new product line ups come out.
