Tips on Strippin'

Use your hips, pretend the audience isn't there, and work the pole.

Er.... Wait.... Ok.

Use a 1x30 belt sander with a scotch brite belt. Works excellently

What I want to know is if the logos will show up at all if you don't etch them before you strip the blade?

I don't need the damn things cut halfway into the blade with acid. I just want to know if they'll show up at all without etching.

Any at all is good enough for me. Even if they won't show up at all, that's fine. I'm not etching them. I just wanted to know.

yup, it's tough to say, each case is individually different.

I've totally erased some, others there's a ghost left..no way of telling beforehand, that I've found..

I've chemically etched, it's not that bad...takes a bit of time + technique..

But the next one I etch is gonna be by electrolysis, like some of the HOGS here do.

Some recent threads have been excellent on the subject, BTW!

Hello fellow hog-friends.

Did you get the best results with alkaline paint stripper or with solvent based paint stripper?
I cannot see your product recommendation any more.

Thanks in advance, cheers, let's drink.

Solvent based. Look for a product that is intended for Heavy Duty application or good for epoxy.

I stripped my ASHBM and the logo looks fine but it seems like the knife has a primer or something over the blade and if I sand that off the logo will be gone. The Argonne Attack i received recently has a much deeper logo than the ASHBM or the TGLB. I'll post pictures in a second. The TGLB logo is barely visible but i did media blast it after stripping.

First up the deeper busse logo

Second is the ASHBM. Not sure if this is a coating or some kind of media blast done before the crinkle coat.

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I needed to know.
It might take a few weeks until this project is finished (not much time) but I promise already, that I will post some pictures of the progress and end result.

+1 for Citristrip, took the black off my Basic 11 with barely any effort.
