the title says it all, are you sick and tired of thick, heavy, overbuilt neckers that take up permanent residence at the bottom of your knife drawer instead of being with you and working everyday?

Here is one of my Carter Pattern lightweight neckers, decked out with a handsanded and etched finish, Super light Curly Maple handle with brass pins. this one is a super light, nice and thin, light to medium use utility knife, for daily cutting uses such as opening mail, trimming fingernails, peeling an apple, making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, ect... of course they work great in the field for small game, wild turkeys, and trout. this pattern also works pretty good on game up to the size of antelope and smaller mule deer!

of course if you don't like neck carry, you can run the neck cord through the hollow rivets to make a handy belt loop {this is the way I carry one every day}.

OAL- 6 3/4"

blade- 3" long tip to scales, .053" thick at the spine, .027" measured 1/4" behind the edge, and .008" thick at the shoulder of the edge. 3/4" wide

steel- 1095 high carbon, differentially hardened. heat treat includes a double normalize, double anneal, triple edge quench and triple temper for a really nice performing blade that takes and holds a great edge and yet is easy to resharpen!

grind- a full flat grind, sharpened on a DMT 325 diamond hone with micro bevels, to an aggressive razor edge

finish- 600 grit handsanded finish, then etched in ferric to bring out the hardening line.

handle- Curly Maple with peened brass pins. handle is finished with 200 grit with the lines running lengthwise with the handle so it looks good yet isn't slick

sheath- .060 thick kydex with small black rivets. stripped paracord, easily adjustable, and it is cut for my necker safety feature.

weight - 2.25 ounces for the total package of knife, sheath and cord. That's about the weight of a Zippo lighter!!!!!! for the WHOLE PACKAGE!!

$175 plus $5 for shiping/insurance to CONUS. I can accept paypal Joe357m@bresnan.net or money order. This one is also on my website, and can be purchased there also at caltoncutlery.com

1st to post "I'll take it" gets it!!! This one is SOLD!! But there are a couple more similar on my website at www.caltoncutlery.com

Great knife beautiful lines on the blade nice contrast between the handle and the blade. Clean looking handle. Why does everyone have to come out with a blade I want when I’m going on vacation and all my $ is tied up.

Twindog, I believe hoze was saying if it was still around when he got back from his vacation he might pick it up.

so it is yours. I will get it boxed up and ready to head your way!

I like the way you started this thread, it reminds me of the 80's-90's infomercials. "Are you tired of thick, heavy, overbuilt Neckers? Well have I got the product for you!" Haha.

It's a really great designed neck knife, too. Slim, light, and capable is what comes to mind!

twindog, I received your paypal, and will drop your knife off at the post office here in a bit, so you should see it in a couple days, Enjoy it!!

McFeeli, well heavy neckers are sort of a pet peeve of mine. I have horrible posture, probably from standing at the bench leaning over my work, so my head rides pretty far forward of my neck, so anything that I put around my neck tends to ride up on my neck instead of sitting on my shoulders, making whatever it is feel a lot heavier than what it is. which is why I make neckers just as light as I can. that and I have much more use for a handy utility tool than I do a prybar or a last ditch weapon, so a good lightweight utility knife is what im after with this pattern.

Oh no I'm not saying that it's bad thing at all, I just liked how you stated it. I agree that neck knives should be less of a boat anchor and more of a thin, comfortable carry knife. There's not much worse than a bulging neck knife. I think you're on right track with your design.

The last part of my post was my actual opinion of your design, not so much a continuation of the first paragraph. I can see how it could be read as such, though.

McFeeli,

gotcha, I knew I should have put a smiley face at the end of my post.

and thanks for the kind words about the title of the thread, I was hoping it would get some folks thinking about lighter and thinner neckers, that aren't so much of a pain in the neck :}

I’m late to this party. The knife is just what I’m looking for. Heading over to your website now...
