Hello,
I have a "one of a kind" NIB Benchmade Skirmish that I had the handles on it hard coated in Aluminum Titanium Nitride. This is an industrial coating that's used on tooling/dies/drill bits etc... and is at the top of the rockwell scale. It turned out real nice! the color is a reddish brown with a slight gold metallic look to it in the right light, looks great! Plus the handles on this thing are now about 100 more scratch resistant :eek: :D :eek:

I've seen this knife in person fellas. It's one sweet knife and that Aluminum Titanium Nitride is some tough, tough stuff!

I was just looking through the brochure from the coater and I think (based on the color) the coating is actually titanium carbo-nitride (TiCN) rather than titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN). The good news is that the TiCN looks like a better coating :D . The Vickers hardness rating is about 4400 as compared to about 4000 for the TiAlN. It's nearly twice as hard as titanium nitride and gives tools (drill bits, etc.) 2-4 times longer life than TiN.
For your sake, I hope you get some good offers. However, for my sake, I hope you don't because if you don't, that knife is gonna be in my collection! :D :D :D
