'tis the season for a fire

J. and Tess, I am glad you guys are ok.....the really sucks! So J. are you climbing the walls yet! No shop it has to be killing you!

Sorry to see your misfortune at such a time of year as this, J. I'm very glad to hear you guys are fine and in process of carrying on! I'm a firm believer in fate, such as yourself, apparently. So knowing this, we believe nothing happens without reason. Perhaps the reason you had your fire was to save the lives of other people? Humor me here... there have been posters recently discussing forging in there garages, and setting up shop in one side of the garage while a car resides in the other. Perhaps they'll take a cue from all this and decide that may not be a safe way to do things. Maybe your mishap has inadvertantly caused these other folks to rethink their strategy?

I certainly hope so. Its never easy taking a setback like this, but you and Tess have good kharma. I'm sure you'll do well. Good luck to you both, and Merry Christmas!

J I blew up the picture and lightened it some.
looks like you put up a new cabinet/shelves above the bench
since the older picture was taken?
looks like the smoke damage and or charring may have come from a round the
cabinet/shelves.
you didn't happen to have some linseed soaked rags
around did you?
those are bad for spontaneous combustion.
look how the staining is in just a small amount on the
right side of the cabinet
like it came out from a hole in it on that side..?.

J. I hate to see the mess it left you with. I'm glad that it wasn't more serious and you were home to put it out. I hope you get it fixed back up in short order.
