Couldn't find the answer to your question, Rob, but I suspect "square end" might better define an end for a half stop.

I have a soft spot for CF anyway.

I think those illustrations need to be in the "traditional patterns" sticky. If we could get more illustrations like that, it would be great. Nice stuff, gents!

Oh, and the soddie in the OP is still gorgeous.
 
That's a nice knife Rob. I have always heard the square ended tang, called square end as Charlie mentioned.
