Titanium Cookware

Wow 5.5 ounces. I may have to put that snow peak on my Christmas list.:D

Hey bigk, how does it fit in that 10X4? Can you get both the cup and pot in there? I know my GSI is really snug.

It fits really good not to sung anymore, maybe streched out a bit. But thats why I put in it the orange bag first. When I take it out I just pull the drawstring for the orange bag it pulls out very smoothly.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I've found that you really do not save that much weight v additional costs of using titanium over stainless if you pack carefuly, especially since all the peripheral gear and carriers for your pots still retain so much weight.

The real weight that can be saved is by reducing the weight of your stove, fuel and solid foods. Plus not carrying excess gear like many knives, clothing and gadgets.

Not carry excessive knives and gadgets!!!!!

I found good prices for Snow Peak gear through E-Bay and a couple discount outdoor places. My 1.4 liter Snow Peak pot is 6.8 ounces while my old aluminum Sigg pot is 15 ounces. If you carry a larger pot for boiling drinking water, etc., the Snow Peak saves you half a pound.

Actually, I'm about to try a week-long backpack trip with just a Vic SAK One Hand Trekker. First time I won't be carrying those excessive knives and gadgets!

Hey, I'm guilty of it myself, but people get so much into the details of shaving ozs from their pot & spoon, but think nothing of bringing 3 knives and 3 different fire ignition systems...and flashlights, let's not forget flashlights and batteries.

I know what you mean about flashlights. I used to carry a somewhat heavy 9Z Surefire. However, I've also done a week-long backpacking trip with just a Photon microlight. It was an interesting experiment but a lightweight headlamp is so convenient that I put it back on the gear list.

Hi all,

I to carry and use the mini solo for carring my steel nalgene. I put the lid in
bottom, then I put the steel water bottle in the Larger cup / pot and then the smaller cup under the larger one that is holding the steel water bottle and then slide it down in to my cantten pouch then I put another small cup on top of the nalgene water bottle then buckle the canteen pouch lid.

so I have the water bottle with water and then use the pot and lid for warming up my water when having a fire and then have 2 smaller cups for my wife and I to have coco or hot apple cider.
I have 5 sets of the mini solo and mix and match the cups and lids between my BOB my normall hiking kit and then a smaller PSK kit.

Mistwalker you bring up a good point about the drilling a couple of holes and then using some wire for a bail for you cup or pot or what ever tin can maybe.
I did that last week with a tin can to warm up water over a fire I had when I contructed a swinging pot holder.

Since you mentioned doing that I was looking through some of my extra camping gear and same upon a military canteen cup that I have and years back drilled 2 holes in the sides and towards the lip, for doing just liek what you mentioned.

Good Tip Miswalker:D

Brunton Ib cookset

I use a composite spoon - I'm not really sold on the benefit/cost of titanium.

Take a look at this Coleman set - 15oz for 4 pots - avg weight less than 3.75 oz. - $26
Take one or two pots and add a heavy aluminum foil lid and you are set.
