Titanium Dao-Updated

I thought I'd bring this back to show you fellas the scabbard, and to share some new info on the steel. Fist, the scabbard is made of instrument quality ebony with triple black cording.

When I did the final post Ht grind I discovered this steel is alive with swirls, layering, and alloy banding. It is a very active steel. In fact, I believe I have a hamon on one side of the blade, and the other side has a brilliant band of super bright alloy running down the center of the blade. I think it is the quench line. I have never seen anything like it on any titanium blade I have ever seen.

Looks really good Dave, the blade looks like it has a damascus pattern to it, sheath work is top notch as well.

It really is nice; I got to see the blade of the sword before it was polished up and hilted, bahahaha! :D

Dave has shown that a differentially-hardened beta titanium alloy sword can exhibit a visible, genuine hamon, which I've never seen before (and thought might be damn-near impossible). It's a little slice of sword history!
