titanium handles and Axis type lock

I played with some Benchmade knives the other day and I really like the Axis lock. I had an Umnumzaan that I loved, but hated the liner lock. Again I love the Sebenza Insingo and hate the liner lock and you can guess how I feel about the Benchmade 761... I've got a Manix XL, but that lock isn't quite as smooth as the Axis. I have a Benchmade 908 Stryker on order, but I dont think I'll mod that one. I'm looking for a drop point with some sort of Axis or similar lock and I guess do some titanium scales. Here's my questions
1. Would a knice like this hold value like a Sebenza or a 761
2. What knife would you suggest with my preference for an Insingo type blade or drop point
3. Who should I go to for scales with the best fit and best value retention
I know there will be varying opinions from start to finish, but you will not offend me. Educate me please

Chris Reeve knives use a frame lock, not a liner lock, there is a difference. The Manix 2 has an entirely different mechanism than the Axis lock, which requires a different technique. That might be why it feels less smooth. Unfortunately most "production" knives do not hold their value as well as something like say a Chris Reeve knife. The only exception is a very limited piece with excellent steel, that is in high demand.

Or look to have a set of scales made. That is, if you don't want a grip.

I would suggest a 710 in m390 or a ritter grip in m390.

Have you considered titanium Wilkins Grips for the Griptilian series?
I saw one in the For Sale section. It's kind of what started me on this. He wants $290, but the 761 is only $330 and its a bit bigger... but it doesn't have an axis lock. I'm really liking that Grip though

-^ this right here. Honestly If you are REALLY set on Ti scales for an axis lock (and theres a LOT of good benchmades knives with it). If you want insingo style blade, probably a 940 or a sheepsfoot grip MAYBE a 950. Personally I suggest posting in the Wanted: Knifemaker / Craftsman / Related Services section OR peruse through The Custom Shop: Services Offered and see what you find. If you find someone who can make the scales and knows an axis lock then I'd say the rest is based on your preference to their work.
It'll most likely be expensive but If you're willing to invest, would probably turn out to be a freaking awesome knife, especially with the fact that you have it done with custom anodized or a specific grip pattern put on it. And you can always get an axis lock like the grip here on the trade/for sale section.

The Griptilian looks great with the titanium scales. I want a more "special" steel though so I may go for a Doug Ritter. I'll need to do more research. I lovery the Sheep's Foot blade, but I'm having trouble finding them. I'll see what things look like when I get home from vacation and how much I like the 908
anybody have pics of momodified Griptilians?

Very viable option, but I'd say that's way harder to justify the carrying of, Great looking knife but IMHO a little on the pricey side for a Ti Axis lock. a coated m4 grip might be able to be found, or a doug ritter for <$120 and I would guess that Ti scales might go for 150-300 Depending. A set of nice Ti wilkins looks to run around $200

Gorgeous knife, but I couldn't carry and use it comfortably at that price. It seems like a Ritter Griptilian or maybe a Regular Griptilian (I like the blade shape) with Wilkins titanium grips is the way to go. Especially since the bulk of the value of the knife is in the handles. This is going to be a great knife!

The Dude 1,

Well ? ? ? ?
Are you going to keep us in suspense like this . . . . .
did you get 'er ? ? ?

I want to see.

I too have spent the day looking for something similar.
I have the hots for :
Lock like the Manix (i'm still unclear what that is called/I need to look it up)
I like the smaller rounder handle like the 940 or Griptillian
I want some super steel near the top of the rope cutting test
Thin, thin flat ground blade like the Chaparral

I realize this may be a pocket (top) full and I may have to just put it in a pouch.

So . . .
His Dudeness . . . Duder . . . El Duderino . . . (I'm not into the whole brevity thing) . . .
did you get it ?
Lets see it.
Can I have it ?
