Titanium knifes and scuba knifes

Hello,

Recently I was interested in scuba knives. And one of the material for it is titanium, as it does not rust.

I read this thread https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/forever-titanium-hybride-knife-ght-16-cera-titan.1255619/ by @kwackster

And discovered that I can buy those knives for cheap here, [non-BF member dealer removed.]

Is it a good idea to buy a large chef knife of titanium and cut out a small scuba knife out of it? How hard would it be? Is adding serrated edge hard?

Currently, I have 0 knife making equipment but considering buying some. What would I need?

Can it be done...sure, but why? Just get a small titanium dive knife and save yourself the possibility of an accidental Class D (metal) fire from Titanium sparks.

Working titanium is tricky. It is softer than hardened steel, yet harder on tools and abrasives.

Also, if you are looking for a dive tool, EMT (medical) shears are a better choice.

There's no need for a Ti dive knife anymore. H1, LC200N, and Magnacut will do saltwater just fine if taken care of.

Titanium knives are awful.

As said above, some cheap trauma shears are better than a dive knife at everything under the surface except defending yourself from wildlife.

A chef knife would make a terrible dive knife. Regardless of the material.

It's way too thin. A dive knife is a sharpened prybar,

Thanks. Yeah I got a Magnacut knife that I can use both in kitchen and in diving. Might content myself there. The japanese titanium knives are too thin.

What the hell are the magic golf knives?

Dive knives are not really knives, they are barely sharpened prybars or spikes. I used to dive with titanium dive knife strapped to my leg for dive knife uses and a Spyderco Salt in my pocket, just in case some real cutting was required.

I've logged many, many hours under water, do you know how many times I actually used a dive knife? Go ahead, best guess.

Picking up Chicks? Probably ALL the time......haha?

So it's Safe to say biceps and dive knives aren't good for anything......
-but picking up chicks. ;p

But they Have a purpose.

If you're not doing this I don't want to hear about it.
