Hi guys,

Just a simple question here. What do you think is the best way to bend titanium ? My Strider AR's lock doesn't put enough pressure, and it causes a little blade play. Thanks in advance.

I think if anyone could tell you it would be STR. personally I have never worked with the stuff.

You can tweak the Strider locks by hand to put more spring tension on them and still take it too far if you get cariried away and/or don't know your own strength.

What I do is this. Just put the pivot barrel the blade spins on back in the lock side as if you were putting it back together. Obviously this is with the knife all taken apart. Now stick the washer over it and then place the blade on there without the non lock side on it. Set it like its in the open position. See at a glance how far out the lock comes on its own now.

Re spring it by hand bending it in and do this again to see how far you've take it out.

Then stick it back together to test it and make sure you didn't go so far that it is nearly impossible to close without thumb pain.

If its easier for you you can wrap the lock in a T shirt material or other rag and use a crescent wrench to use wrist torque to re spring some tension in it but Strider takes his lock relief down so thin to bend the locks that its very simple to do this by hand.

A bit of warning now that I've thought about it. Whatever you do don't take it in for a giant bend inward by getting carried away or impatient if it takes a few tries. The last thing you want to do is kink it at the bend. Thats not good. Take it easy. It doesn't take much to tweak it out just a bit to stop some vertical movement if that is all you are trying to do.

Also, Strider typically has a pretty great warranty and you can always ask them to do it if its beyond your comfort zone after giving it a try.
