I designed a sanding block that will efficiently use expensive sandpaper. Titanium is light, won't corrode and if the paper slips off it won't scratch the blade steel. It will also give a very hard/durable edge for getting into ricassos. One side has the corner beveled so you can tighten up the paper easily.

Two knurled tension knobs tighten down the two plates to hold the paper securely.

I made the dimensions so that it will take a 1"X5 1/2" strip of sandpaper. One sheet will make 18 strips with very little waste.

Dang that's cool! With all the little jigs you're coming up with, you should patent and market them! I'd buy one!!!

That's an awesome idea, when I finally get around to making my first knife I'll definitely try it.

Great tool! Why didnt I think of that one? Are you producing these?

OK I see you want us to make one but better? I dont think so.

If you make it out of anything other then Ti it should be a fast easy little project. Wingnuts will do the same thing and knurled Ti knobs with a brass plug peened in. The tension plates do not have be inletted. You can have the plates on top and use two pins to keep them from turning during tightening.

The piece of Ti came from an acid mixing vat paddle chunk that was very irregular. It took two hrs just to mill it into an even block.

I used thread peening to secure the allthread to the block. It's less visble then a counter sink machine screw and locks in the rod better. I used stainless allthread so you can see the different color compared to if I used Ti.

So what is the length of the piece? 4"? I really like it and can see one or two of these in my future. I think I will go with brass or aluminum. Any reason a piece of 1/2" Aluminum wouldn't work well?

I used it last night for two hours and it works great and is comfortable to hold. The length is 4 5/8" long and 1" wide. Aluminum should work but you want a hard defined edge for getting into the ricasos.

I am just getting over viral meningitis so I don't have enough "poop" yet to start forging. So I had a couple tool concepts to build that didn't require forging or any hardcore energy.
