Ferric chloride with distilled water. Same acid I etch my blades in.I like it. What acid?
At what temp? I'd like to try it.Ferric chloride with distilled water.
After I shaped the handle, I heated the scales until they started turning yellow/blue/purple, then I dunked it in the acid. I got the titanium from AKS for about $45, and it was plenty big enough for me to cut a scrap piece off and test it. The good thing is, if you dont like how it turned out, you just sand the color off and try again. At what temp? I'd like to try it.
Why not just make a Smurf Bowie?View attachment 1740674Yes sir, was looking for more blue color, but I like this too
That's interesting. Next time I use titanium, I'm definitely mounting the scales with screws. This was an afterthought, I wasn't sure what direction I was going handle wiseWhy not just make a Smurf Bowie?View attachment 1740674
Thank you Kevin.until they started turning yellow/blue/purple
It looks so good with the pins, though. There are probably exceptions, but pins almost always look better than screws. Your knife is quite beautiful!
