Thanks for the complement guys. Steyr, what's the G. Gordon Liddy's fighting ring. Do you have a pic?
By the way, I would like to take this time to welcome you to Blade Forums.

Thanks for the welcome to Blade Forums, Death's Head :)

The liddy ring is a bit too large for my taste
3rings.gif
your design looks much more ferocious than his and can be said that yours has "bite"

I think the key to the Liddy ring, was that it was something less likely to be confiscated in jail, and Liddy is selling a ring similar to it.

It would be an effective ring. It looks nice too, but I just can't get over the price. Maybe if the would advertise the steel if it were let's say S30V, then it would justify price some. Even then, $310 is too expensive. This is a design though that cannot be made in titanium.

Slugfast, I'm usually quicker than this. I've had to be outside for a couple days while some stonework of my design is going in. I have the ring cut and hope to finish it today.

Btboone,

No worries, everything is good on this end.

If it was going on 2 weeks, then it might be different.

I got the ring today, very good construction and finish.

I'll post a few pictures, but my camera is a little outdated, ie: one of the first of the 3.2 megapixel ones, so it has a little bit of trouble focusing in on the extreme closeups...

Those that look at these pictures, will notice that the serrations on my ring are a little different from Deathshead. I decided to go with a more friendly, eye appeasing ring, rather than the later serrations. I figured that was an acceptible tradeoff to me, and I figure if I did it again, I might go for the larger serrations, after seeing the ring in person, but I'm happy with the purchase nonetheless. I think the serrations, at 1/16th are pretty small, and don't give off as much of a "negative vibe" as I initially thought they would, but again its hard to guage this without seeing it in person. So if you are looking to do it at 1/16th serrations, I don't think itd be a problem to go Deathshead's route (or mine for that matter), as mine does give off a rough feel when scrapped accross the skin.

I think that pretty much everything else said, has been said, so any questions, post em, and I'll answer anything you may want to know on my ring, and I'm sure Death's Head will as well.

Thanks, pictures below

But here goes

Here is a computer picture of my ring

This isn't my ring itself, but should give you a good basis for comparison of Death'sHead's old ring.

OK, pictures have appeared to have come out ok.

As I stated before, the finish and construction are great... the ring turned out a little different than I expected in terms of width, which actually was what I was looking for. I wasn't wanting something 10mm in width, so this one appears to be around 6-8mm in width, not too big to attract immediate attention to its shine, but big enough that it looks like a ring, has some heft to it, but isn't overally eye catching (does that make sense?).

I'm still debating on whether to put it on my ring or Middle finger. Its loose on my ring finger, had to be large enough to fit over my screwed up knuckle, but remains slightly loose on my finger itself. I'm thinking it remains in place better of the middle finger, so that might be the best bet (blame playing as a Lineman in Football, and multiple scraps on my knees and fingers).

But overall a good choice, and one that I would reccomend to others looking for an attractive Titanium Ring.

Now one concern that I did have, once I had allready ordered it, were the reports that Titanium was about impossible to have cut off your finger in an accident. I talked to Boonerings about it, and I'm eased by the fact that while this is somewhat true, it can be cut off if need be, just not by the traditional dremel or hacksaw tools.

Slugfast, those are some horrible pictures.:D I know what I am looking at because you sent me the computerized pic from btboone. I am afraid that other members interested in the ring will not be able to make out what it is. I can see in your pics that your camera is focusing on the backround rather than on the ring. Does your camera have a macro mode. If it doesn't, it may help to back away from the ring and just zoom in closer.
The ring turned out very nice. The way btboone does, there are just no flaws. I am glad that you are happy with the ring. By the way btboone can do some minor adjustments to the ring to make it fit better.
Also, I prefer to wear the ring on the ring finger.

Death's Head, I spent like 20 minutes trying to get it to work, but had no luck on it. I've followed some of those tips I saw posted earlier, but I think my camera's Macro mode isn't quite up to par (its pretty old, and an early model), but I'll give it some more tries later.

I don't mean to bang on you. I'm just poking fun at you. Try hitting some cardboard, you will be surprised.

Yeah, I figured that, but well hell I can't figure out how to setup the lighting to get the pictures to work out, and my camera to still focus correctly.

I'm thinking of getting version 2. Any thoughts on putting it on my index finger? It would also fit my middle finger.
Thanks,
Jim

Dogsmeadow,

Which Version 2 are you referring to? We've got so many pictures on up on here.

I believe that Death'sHead has a picture of his Version 1 (tapered Serrations), and his newest one (squared off serrations, and squared off on sides of fingers).

I know that I have pictures similar to Death'sHead's Version 1, but the serrations on my ring are at 1/16th of an inch, and are tapered.

As for the Index Finger---

-To me it'd look a little awkward to see it squared off on the index finger (ie, cut in a straight-line, rather than circular cut). That'd be more of an aesthetic call, but not something I think I would personally wear. As for the Middle, or Ring Fingers, I think the straight-line cuts would look fine, and may even be a little more comfortable.

First of all, the only ring I have ever worn is my wedding band and it took me months to get used to it. Asthetics are a bit of a concern, as I want it to look natural. My thinking with the index finger is that if I have a koppo or yawara in my hand, the index finger would be a good place to have the ring for reverse hammer fist or in a grappling situation. If my thinking is flawed here, please don't hesitate to correct me, as I really have no experince with fighting rings. I could then wear the ring on my middle finger if it needed to be more hidden.

I like the exact ring that Death's Head has. I identified it as version 2, but I certainly could have been mistaken.
Thanks for all the advice so far.

Jim

Dogsmeadow,

OK, I know which one you are talking about, we had a lot of pics up...

I'm not too familiar with the use of Koppo's or Yawara's, so I'm afraid I can't give you too much advice on using the ring in combo with them.

My only concern with having the ring on my Index finger is the possibility of breaking it on an impact. If I would glance off someone, the Index or Pinky finger would definitely make impact, and I guess I feel more comfortable having it on an interior finger. Is it a likely problem, I doubt it, but something that crossed my mind when I thought about Ring placement. I guess I could envision a glancing punch where the impact was especially high, that might fracture my finger/knuckle due to the intensity of the impact. But on the other hand, it could be possible that the ring would actually provide more security to your finger in that same situation.

Greetings Dogsmeadow!

This is really a very last resort weapon if you can call it a weapon at all. It will do some serious damage, but not the type of damage that would stop a fight. I know what you are talking about regarding the ring on the index finger with a koppo.
If your koppo is long enough, than you should not be striking with you index finger in the first place. The spikes on this ring will not be long enough to have any effect with grappling. If that is what you have in mind, I recommend a Hojo ring or Jones Engagement Ring.
This ring is made for punching. Having it on your ring finger is best in my opinion. It is easiest to live with there so that you can wear it everyday and forget about it. Also because anatomically, the ring finger is slightly farther back from the middle and index finger, these 3 fingers will become somewhat flush with each other leaving none of the 3 fingers more vulnerable to breaking. A ring on your middle or index finger is just asking to be broken. All of the force of a punch will be concentrated on that finger.
I hope this info helps you out some. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
By the way, I am not fighting ring expert, I just had an idea and ran with it. There maybe other forum members with more experience.

Stay sharp!
D.H.
