For sale: Titanium Truncated Cones. Approximate measurements are: 37mm x 18mm x 8mm. I have seven available. $10 each plus $2 shipping CONUS. Buy all seven for $75 shipped CONUS. I've used a number of these for various projects. Use is limited only by your imagination. Buck Titanium Crystal knife and ruler are not included.
Possible use: stem cone for mounting vintage road racing bike handlebar stem to headset / fork tube. Am currently rebuilding a couple of these and they have a small steel cone inside the handlebar stem. Very heavy. Now if I could find someone to drill and tap these cones for the stem bolt..
I think the real value is in titanium. How much is the total weight of the truncated cones. A lot of rifle bullets are truncated cones which is a truncated cone with a meplat.
I'm using these Ti cones for a couple different projects. I have lots of Ti tubing, so a project I started a couple weeks ago was a Ti hammer. I used double brass sleeves that fit inside a 18" section of Ti tubing. 3m metal epoxy held everything together. That is, it held together until the 4th full power hit on an old tree stump in the back yard
The next hammer version will be to drill a hole into the side of the tube. Insert the narrow end of the cone. Then bolt the cone to the back wall of the tube.
The third photo shows a walking stick I am working on. 39" tall, with a Ti tube pressure fit inside a mandrel spun carbon fiber tube. I put the Ti tube in the freezer for a half hour. The very slight contraction enabled me to use a rubber mallet to tap the Ti tube inside the CF tube. A Ti cone will be inserted into the bottom of the tube, then covered by a grippy rubber hiking stick foot I picked up at REI.
The last project I will start in the spring is to fabricate axle sliders for my BMW XMoto Supermoto bike.
