Anyone seen this?

I think he is just trying to show the axis mechanism on a non-Benchmade knife.

Now that the patent has expired, it is free for others to use. Under the "O" of Omega Spring, you will see what looks like a scale screw, as well as the pivot being designed to take a screw, and probably the very last hole on the frame.

If I am wrong, and they are not using scales, I can see that huge gap causing folks to take off a fingertip if not careful.

Massdrop approached Millit about making some kind of axis lock knife for them. The HK line of knives were their best sellers on the Massdrop platform, but benchmade and HK parted ways, and Massdrop wanted to find a substitute, and potentially more stable business relationship.

Millit recommended TJ Schwarz a designer capable of helping with the project. The "drop" starts tomorrow. Nitro V steel, hollow ground blade, axis lock, grey g10 scales, US made and $110 shipped. Fairly compelling project.

Unfortunately it is going to be ran to 57-59 hrc, which is low for an alloy that is stable to 61-62...
Especially if they are touting the Vanadium content for higher wear resistance... even though it is only .079% which doesn't bump up the wear resistance, it only aids in smaller grain sizing and resulting toughness and keen edge taking...

I jumped on board for one. At a $110 price, it seems like a good deal.

It seems like a good deal, good steel and interesting blade, but probably not for me.

That said, it looks like the flood gates on the Axis Lock really are starting to open and, as it's one of my favorite locks, that makes me very excited.

would have got one if the nitro v was 60+hrc. 57-59 too wide a range and lower edge retention. tho I can assume why they run it so low.

nice design but also once you own one axis lock knife, they are all the same. I don't need another.

doubt they would do this... but make a premium version with legit carbon fiber with peel ply texture and 61hrc nitro v.

^^^My sentiments exactly. Still, I’d like to check one out for the sake of curiosity. I think both the Falcon and Crux are decent knives with some rough edges (even accounting for price) and I’d like to see how well this model is executed.

I've got my FF/WE/MD Gent in my pocket today and I think its the best of the three. If that's any indication of a trend, it looks like MD knives are getting better.

I just got in on the drop in a moment of weakness. I don't have a compact, sturdy folder at the moment--my other Axis knives are relatively lightweight (940 and 535). As a lefty, I like the Axis lock a lot--not all that many left hand friendly options out there and the price seems very reasonable. I'd love to here what some of the steel experts around here have to say about Nitro-V.

I got in since it's an intro price. Figure if I don't like it I'll resell for about 100 and not lose to much

think they said the next batch is expected to be 10 more and they will probably offer more colors and or blade styles.
