Tkell blade finishes disclosed..

It's called "Let's just hit production and get this out the door, as long as we make our money now we can bullshit the customer later"

Why coat AEB-L?
If you coat it you don't have to take the time to polish the blade surface. Just rough it out and coat it, and the rough finish is hidden. Lots of knives are made that way. Like this.....

Yes, exactly!! I am aware of this get rich fast scheme. There's one here, goes on every Friday. Get 'em while you can!

Thx for photos!

This is the only Tkell I handled so far with the darker finish. It definitely has no blems, but compared to classic clearer nib I would say that the finish looks a bit more "splotchy" - although nothing like you've shown here. I honestly like the clearer finishes better, but I can appreciate the lesser reflectivity of the black nib versions and I can see how many would prefer it for tactical applications.

I'd like to find out what chemical was applied to turn NiB black. My sample does not appear electroplated or dipped, looks hand applied with sponge or rags.
Tim's 007 is a wicked design. Take it with you next time at Sizzler, whip it out when waitress delivers your steak;-)

**What alloy is your blade?
Definitely lol. This one is 80crv2. I think that the 001 is still the most effective tactical EDC knife from Tim but this one is definitely a close second.

Here you can see how different the standard NiB looks in case you haven't a reference on hand.

Tim got in touch with me the other day and graciously offered to have his plater strip and refinish to his old tumbled finish "Recon" specs.

Hopefully he'll get enough negative feedback on battleworn that he'll start offering tumbled as an option. Although, from what his boss Chynna said, everything going out the door will have the black wash from here out..🤙
I really like the battleworn personally.

Chynna is his daughter not his boss by the way...

It's a self defense knife not a daily user. I'd keep it except TKell wasn't very clear about condition, and he's charging full prices for "Battleworn" if indeed it means receiving damaged blades.

Btw, the word battleworn should not be used for damaged blemished blades. It doesn't really sit well with some war veterans.
Most veterans i know aren't snowflakes about knife finishes

good. sounds like a good fella who stands behind his products and cares about his customers. your problem with yours is solved......glad to hear it.

At full price, the knife cost over 3 Benjamins. Besides if Tim or his Boss offered money back on the blade this vet would have been happy to throw it into my bead blast cabinet.

Happy you know veterans!
I hear you about the finish. Hopefully he makes it right for you
