TL-29, with BUCK 301 blade

humm guess 300 is looking for seasoning for his post
( read eating his words!)
but to his credit i would say this knife was a parts knife or
miss blade at the factory
i agree buck did not ever sell a tl29
jest the electricians knife which is a great knife!

I'm hoping that 300 will ping me with a mailing address. Why not pass this around?

A research question for me but I thought I would just type it here: How do you tell who manufactured this knife, Schrade or Camillus (or perhaps another mfg)? Can its manufacture date, or date range, be determined?

I'm watching a Camillus TL-29 auction and that knife is identical, except for the Buck 301 blade of course.

I am not looking for salt or pepper.......here is photo of recent Camillus TL-29 side-by-side with a 301 of the era of the blade pictured. Looks like it will fit doesn't it. 301 on right.

I have several other brand handles someone has placed a Buck blade in. I have seen and been told about Buck handles, from Camillus contract era, with Camillus blade. You can't say blades because secondary blades aren't marked.

The discussion knife is a TL-29, most likely a Camillus, I believe they had most of the later modern era contracts with the government, which is I believe the greatest source of traded, used TL-29s. If you were a betting man you could bet Cami with a pretty good assurance it is. I don't believe, in my TL-29 readings, I have seen too many other knife folks make them in recent years.
Remember lots of TL-29s were probably contracted to the big companies from the small, such a Klein stamped TL- 29.

This blade was placed in this knife by a human. Whether employeed by Camillus or someone would bought parts at the Camillus sale, or someone with skills at home to salvage, I have no idea. But I stand by my first reaction it is a Buck blade in a TL-29 body. It does look well buffed on the bolster so who ever did it had some metals skill.

Thank you kindly 300 for the well-illustrated tutorial and for inspiring me into this year long adventure discovering this knife in a photograph, having an idea of its nature and uniqueness and inducing me into digging it out of thousands of knives last Sunday. Big fun for me. I am in awe at the depth of knowledge and generousity of the members here. You are all right.

I don't care who did it...I Like it  a nice pattern and even better with a Buck blade in it...Good job on scoring that one oregon...and thanx for sharing...:)

It is my pleasure sitflyer and you are welcome.

I've been launched, inspired, aided and encouraged by the talented, gifted, giving and sage-like wise members of this forum so many times that it is difficult for me to resist chiming in here if I have anything that I think is worthwhile to put on the table here. What a great place all those concerned, you know who you are, have made here. Thank you kindly.

This electrician's folder cleaned up pretty good. A few more pics of this TL-29 with a Buck 301 blade for your amusement. I took a photo of a 118 Personal and the target knife on the Ipad2 and then placed these knives on that screen and took these shots:
