I'm planning on picking one of those bad boys up in a couple months for my birthday. I am aware of the new version coming out soon as soon as all the dealers get rid of the old version. I'm glad that the low rider clip was put on there because I like it quite a bit. I'm very curious if Mr. Hinderer will be making up new custom scales for the new version. Even if he doesn't I'm still gonna try and get a hold of one of the blue scales and I'm a righty so I really don't care about the holes on the G10 not being the same.

Sorry for the rant, but anyway the point of this thread is to ask all of you 0550 owners to post some pictures for me!
Thanks.

I fully expect RH to provide after market scales for this superb knife. I'm sure he gets Carte Blanche or at least first dibs to the ZT CNC programs ;)

Is the 550 going to be redone or just the pocket clip? Where can I see the new version of the 550? I just got one I love the thing just upset the a new version is coming out and I didn't know about it .

Check out the thread in the Kershaw subforum. They made about three minor tweaks. It's still basically the same knife either way. My original design works onehanded superbly and locks up like a vault. Great knife!

Miltmaldo: The pocket clip was changed to the 0560 pocket clip and the cutout in the lockbar was reversed I believe.

Here's a photo of my 0550. Love it, and love the old style clip. I also have a 0560 and kinda wish they would have used the old style clip in it too...

I don't get low ride, why would you want to make it harder to grab the knife? Maybe I'm missing something here?

And a weaker detent really makes no sense. The only good I see here is the lock cut-out being reversed, maybe that will fix the lock problems.

Here's mine before and after I put a Wicked Edge mirror finished edge on her :D

What lock problems? I must be out of touch.

I'll use my 0551 as a example. Let me preface this by saying most all problems are now gone thanks to CS and the replacement of the Ti slab. I am also not bashing the knife otherwise I would not have carried mine sense it was released to present day.

The ability for the lock to be disengaged when cutting still persist though has become much less after break-in. If you were to hold the knife without touching the lock bar and pressed the edge lightly into a cutting board you can feel and hear the lock bar disengage and come to a natural resting position. In the beginning it released far enough to create vertical play, now once pressure is taken off it will reset on the tang of the blade. My thoughts at first were that the lack of a stop pin behind the tang was causing the play but as time went on I realized the thickness of the Ti along with the angle of attack due to the lock bar cut out made it un-natural for the lock bar to support the blade. For most others it was a sticky lock and random lock-up which I had before the Ti side was replaced.

With the cut-out to the outside as seen with the new 0550 everything is in-line and better supported with much less chance for the lock to spring back or deform at the cutout. (I could be way off but no one has ever offered a better answer)

BTW, every 0550 I have sharpened had a stick lock or some sort of lock issue. Each time I corrected this by re-torquing the screws in what I consider a proper pattern.

Awesome knife, the 0550...

I love my 0551 and have a 0550 on the way to since I love them so much! My 0550 will wear the Hinderer scale I was scammed out of and is now returning home with a new color..was Olive Drab and the guy dyed it black/Blue

I have a 0551 (wonderful knife) that I'm just going to keep in new condition and plan on picking up a 0550 soon and was wondering if the newer version of the 0550 is suppose to be out soon or is that a project that is several months away? I've gotta hand it to ZT, so far they're the only company that has me buying multiples of the same model (just in case)...I've done this with the 0560 and the 0300.
