To Anax or not to Anax, that is the question!

I totally agree with you Lost Cosmonaut. I have been asking myself the same question. And the answer to me, is TO! I have a Custom Socom Delta and now a Custom Matrix that I just picked up. I bought the Matrix due to it's high degree of character. But now that I have it, I hear that smoother, quieter, (more sophisticated?) and not so brash Anax calling my name.

The problem for me is, the one I want is a little over $2,000. Gah Damn!! These things are expensive. So maybe next year.. One will be mine. I do know the two Customs that I own work flawlessly. Fit and finish is absolutely perfect. So you do seem to get what you pay for.

There are two types out there too. Don't know if you know that or not? One has an Aluminum handle with a hole drilled in it for a lanyard and the other has a Titanium handle with a cool screw in lanyard. I'm not a lanyard guy, so I'd want the Titanium.

If price is a concern, I saw there was a sprint run of them at $550 a while back that quickly sold out, so maybe more will come at that price range. But otherwise, yeah; I'd say you should get one! They look nice.

If you do get one, make sure you post a picture of it back on this thread!

Well I found a place with the stonewash titanium version for $50 less than anyone else and it was a reputable shop so I jumped. I'm excited,it will be my first integral in titanium!

I found the clip on my Anax (TAD Edition) to be really stiff. Like "takes two hands to clip the knife in a pocket" stiff. Probably needs some more break in time, though more often than not I leave it loose and just use the dragons tail for extraction (which is quite bent up now...lol). It's a GREAT knife, and while it seemingly sucks at cutting cardboard for me, I've found it works great with other general use, fire prep, etc. Would I pay $2000+ for some of the fancy versions? Probably not. But I like to use my knives, and I feel it's a great value at under $1k.

Just got it today and playing with it and putting it in the pocket, I'm really impressed so far. Wicked sharp, very nice action, really comfortable in the pocket, almost disappears really.

Construction and attention to detail are nice. Don't know about the proprietary hardware, I'm not usually a fan of that, but it's liveable on a integral since there's not much to take apart anyway. The packaging is nothing short of fantastic.

I'm also not sure I would pony up another 2-4x as much as I paid for a dressy version. They sure look nice, but at least this one I can use without feeling bad about it.

The lanyard is nicely made but ultimately useless. I'm not a lanyard guy anyway, but a stiff pokey one doesn't make much sense to me. Hopefully they complete their goal of offering different options. A screw-in glassbreaker wouldn't be half bad, or a tritium cage like I've seen on some other Marfione customs.

^--- You do realize some of us are living vicariously through your new Anax and we REALLY WANNA SEE YOUR NEW SCORE!!!! ;)
Congrats! And PIX Please! :D

I hope more people start using the ceramic BB pocket clip. It's just so awesome, and it looks cool, like having a black hole on your pocket clip.

Oh crap! I think I'm going to have to bump this up on the "need to buy one" list!!
Very, very, nice and that Ceramic BB clip is SCHWEET! I bet it makes it a whole lot less "rippy" on your pocket!

Thanks for the pix Cosmonaut!!

It definitely does. High retention without shredding the pants, which is nice. My only issue with clips like these is that they can be a little vague and difficult to toss back in your pocket compared to a more traditional clip, but most machined clips have that problem for me.
